Institute for Creation Research

Postby Kelley USA » 25 Sep 2017 15:38

I know there was a thread on the older forum about this project, but have not seen it covered here on the new one... This project has quietly started construction. It's on the corner of Royal Lane and Luna Rd. Technically I guess it's in Dallas, but it's about 2 steps from both Las Colinas and Farmers Branch. Link to the project which includes a current time lapse of the project, groundbreaking video and video of what the finished project will look like. But it's a go!

That's interesting. I've seen their former headquarters; I guess it's on that same bit of land in an industrial district next to Korea town, on Royal and Luna. They also have a creation museum just outside of Dinosaur Valley State Park. I didn't go in but I guess they have compelling evidence that dinosaurs didn't exist millions of years ago. Are they doing something similar here? Trying to find evidence that people were created ten thousand years ago, as opposed to evolving over tens of thousands of years?

Like anybody, Creationists can spend their money however they'd like, of course. But who's their audience? The majority of mainstream Protestant churches and the Catholic Church all teach evolution, not to mention all Jewish denominations. And -- I just checked -- only 11% of Americans belong to a religion that rejects evolution. Well, so, I guess there's still a sizable audience for creationism!

Funny you mentioned this... I was similarly wondering what was up here. As with many things, evolution isn't as black and white as many portray it to be. Their main distinction seems to be the difference between microevolution (evolution within a species) and macroevolution (evolution from one distinct species to another). I suspect the 11% number you have pertains to both, but there is a sizable portion that falls somewhere in between micro and macro. I haven't delved deep enough, but microevolution (which is fairly obvious) seems to be supported here.
I'm always up for a good brain tickler so I'll probably check it out. But if they say dinosaur bones were planted by demons or something, I'll probably end up taking an early lunch.
Anyway, my point is that I'm sure there will be an audience for this. But the location is a little weird.

The location is a bit weird, but it's in a rapidly developing area with everything going on at Mercer Crossing. I watched snippets of the groundbreaking video and noticed that Pastor Robert Jeffers from First Baptist Dallas and the Founder / CEO of Interstate Batteries spoke. Might give you an idea as to whom this might attract?!

Oh, Jeffress. That makes sense. That guy wouldn't accept evolution if his tailbone grew back the tail. Wilonsky does a great roast of the guy.

I was excited about the possibility of a Bible & Rare Book Museum, Creation Research --- in my mind follows the thinking that all science is a branch of Theology --- would love a Creation Research Institute that tries to figure stuff out that doesn't follow regular physics, quarks, string theory or quantum physics whatever it's called. Explain evolution through trying to understand how miracles happen. If it's a clutch of denominations insisting there's only one way of it all is like Astrology, to me.
