So a friend of mind lives off Douglas Street East of Lemmon Ave. I met him and some of his neighbors for brunch sunday. I overheard one of his neighbors tell a woman he just met that he lived in SoHP (pronounced so hip).
I asked my buddy what he was talking about and he said SoHP is what some people are calling the area south of Highland Park! Has anyone else heard this? I know this is a silly topic, but it's bugging the hell out of me. Why do Dallas people have this need to chop up neighborhoods into smaller more pretentious neighborhoods?

Haha. Never heard of this. Sounds lame TBH. Doesn't even look good when you spell it out. It Looks like the pronounciation would be pronounced "soap".

Sounds like a plant to me...Which developer is using the term though. Plus it is probably another way for that neighborhood to separate itself from the gaybourhood that dominates the area. You already have the Maple Avenue District claiming the area on the other side of Cedar Springs. One day the gaybourhood will be a memory only cause developers are itching to absorb it for another branded district that is anything but gay.
