I figured since I want to talk about a name change, there should be an overall bus system thread for FWTA. I don't have much to add regarding the bus system at the moment, however, I did want to note that FWTA voted yesterday for a re-branding of their services.
I am not clear if the new name, Trinity Metro, just replaces the name The T. Or, if it replaces everything including the name Fort Worth Transportation Authority. I'll go ahead and guess the former (The T). But, there you have it. Trinity Metro, it seems, is what it will be dubbed moving forward in the near future.

Fort Worth's transit has changed names, and has a new logo also. Spokespeople for the transit system try (in vain?) to explain the reason for the logo and the name change.

The explanation for why the name change is easy, the old name wasn’t popular nor did it have a good appeal mainly because the service was so bad. Hence, the need to change it’s name.jrd1964 wrote:http://www.star-telegram.com/news/traff ... 45654.html

Too bad they haven’t figured out how to improve the service first because now the new name will be considered by the masses just as poorly as the last.
Coca-Cola and Dr. Pepper have huge followers not because of their names’s populatity as much as the popularity of their products.
In my opinion a great sign that a company or corporation is on the rocks economically, about to merge with another, or about to fail is changing it’s name.

But The T is not a corporation or company. They are a public service. They're not going anywhere. Just continuing to suck.

Trinity Metro is the same age (40) as DART this year. For all of November, any ride within Tarrant County (buses, TexRail, Trinity Metro rideshares, TRE (between CenterPort station and T&P station only), etc.) will be *free*.

Trinity Metro has rebranded Route 15 (the stockyards route) to the "Orange Line." And it runs until 1am now.
I feel like it's just a matter of time before this route turns into a streetcar line. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Given that Fort Worth's current mayor and council actually have actually expressed some interest giving the streetcar idea another shot, maybe it'll actually happen this time.
As much as the people/leadership of Fort Worth love to do things out of spite towards Dallas (whether or not they admit it), I'm surprised they've never proposed doing streetcar/light rail lines as a way to one-up Dallas by doing so in a way that gets way higher ridership-per-mile. Since they lack the lightly-used or abandoned rail corridors that Dallas has/had, their only option is do build them down arterial roads like Houston did, which is helped by the fact that the main roads heading west, north, and east out of downtown all held streetcar or interurban routes (there's not a obvious single south road to my eyes).

Re: Trinity Metro (FWTA 'The T')
Connecting the cultural district and arenas to downtown, and downtown to the stockyards is such an easy decision.
Re: Trinity Metro (FWTA 'The T')
Maybe the south solution is to connect the Cultural District south to TCU / Berry, and then only let the routes east from there and north back to downtown become clearer laternorthsouth wrote: ↑06 Aug 2024 21:21 Given that Fort Worth's ... only option is to build them down arterial roads like Houston did, which is helped by the fact that the main roads heading west, north, and east out of downtown all held streetcar or interurban routes (there's not a obvious single south road to my eyes).

Further article about the Orange Line, with a more detailed route map. The article also includes other changes to Trinity Metro.
