Thanks kingkong and dallaz...
I would have thought Skyhouse(Novare) could push their business model as hard as they push their construction coordination and timeline, and make a difference in master-planned redevelopment sites like this that are not the traditional Frisco edge city nor downtown-adjacent trophy shelf. But so far no sign of their interest.

This isn’t my picture at all. I’ve seen this on Reddit

https://www.reddit.com/r/Dallas/comment ... utm_term=1

Zoomed in and took a few screenshots. Good view of CityPlace/Uptown area and The Oliver U/C in The Central. Also, if you zoom in to the left of CityPlace Tower, you can see The Quad rising too.

A coup here would be to convince Target to move across the street and open a large urban store in this development other retail would follow and build out more residential towers. Then you could finally redevelop around the Cityplace tower.

I think there was push back from the site owners years back to redevelop. Sadly it will stay as is for the foreseeable future.

Target’s building is 30 years old now and presumably maintenance costs have begun their predictable upward spiral, but it is owned by Target/Dayton Hudson Corp, so a sale and leaseback agreement is probably the most they would agree to as a next step. Some kind of crowdsourcing & crowdfunding “megatactical urbanism” nonprofit community land-repositioning trust could be a good thing for CTroy to start in the spirit of his longago urban recreation meetup group

$6M and 14KSF. So, kinda the size of 1-2 CVSgreens, and, a 100-year build quality to match. Sweet! ; )

Just came across this free article. It is just confirming what I already knew, high interest rates are delaying projects.

The tower doesn't resemble the tower in the original renderings. They were covered in reflective glass. Now they have multiple finishing & are less monolithic. Interesting choice.

Nice pics!

Not sure if this was shared or not, but it looks like the development will have temporary parking lots. It will likely serve the retail.

This was updated May 16

The new rendering with the surface lots is not good news to me. It seems to replace most of the space allocated for a fitness center with a parking lot. The area really needs a new fitness center as Cowboys Fit East Dallas and LA Fitness Uptown are seemingly at capacity.

Doubt it’s being replaced. It’s more than likely temporary. The article I posted mentioned that the project is delayed because of high interest rates. I don’t think that the 2nd phase is starting anytime soon. The same thing is happening at the NorthEnd development and that’s how VP was developed as well.
The original site plan for The Oliver at The Central called for a lot of office and retail but that may change due to market constraints, de Bruin said.

“As you know, the office market has completely tanked,” he said. “We’re a little concerned about what the total development will look like. Hopefully, there will be more opportunities for multifamily. They had probably four or five office buildings planned that never materialized or there’s a big delay.”
Edit: My bad, I forgot to quote the article

This development will take a number of years to complete. The office portion of the development will definitely go slower than the residential & hotel parts. I could see a few of those office towers converted into condos or apartments.

Wait, I thought there was an exit point in the bottom of Cityplace tower?

I wonder what it would take to create a fully public subway entrance on the east side though.

Yes... there are public entrances to the Cityplace/Uptown station on both sides of 75. I've entered from both sides many times.

I believe Tam is referring to yet another entrance that did not materialize:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cityplace/Uptown_station
Original station plans allowed for another set of entrances at the north end of the platforms, which could serve future development north of Haskell Avenue.
