In this article about Cresson, along US 377 SW of Fort Worth, a side note is brought up in the article about US 377 getting a relief route (TxDOT-speak for a bypass) to the west of Cresson. It will span 3 miles in all; the center of town has a railroad crossing at US 377's intersection with TX 171, and between the narrow in-town right-of-way and the railroad/TX 171 crossing, TxDOT feels a bypass is needed. Work is supposed to begin next year with completion set for 2022.

It's March 2024, and they have built the bridges and laid most of the road bed. They have just started on paving. Not sure when it will open.
Re: Cresson: US 377 bypass
Growing up in Stephenville and spending most of my weekends in DFW, I cannot tell you how many hours have been spent waiting for trains here. This is so badly needed! I would really like them to upgrade the rest of 377 from Granbury to Stephenville to be a divided highway as well. It becomes divided again after Stephenville and into Dublin on the other side.

Re: Cresson: US 377 bypass
Drove southbound on US377 today around Cresson on the new bypass. The northbound lanes are still being routed through Cresson. Just a matter of completing the on and off ramps to the nothbound lanes before it will be open as well.

For some reason I felt this project was going to take a lot longer than this. Glad to hear some of it's open though, this is a much needed re-route!
