Meh... I lost all hope in that ever coming to fruition.

I wrote to the developer about a year ago and he was pretty upfront with how early they were in the process and that the time frame was a bit of a longer one. He also mentioned D2 being a potential delay and for the reason listed above.

These seem to pretty well match up with Walsh logistics and construction animation and the description on the FAA site regarding height, layout, and orientation.

What's next for Dallas' skyline? Developer buys site, plans 40-story skyscraper

http://www.dallasnews.com/business/real ... skyscraper

Developers have purchased property to build the first true downtown Dallas skyscraper in seven years.

Chicago-based Amli Residential bought the vacant block on Field Street just north of Ross Avenue.

The developer plans to build a more than 40-story apartment tower on the parking lot next door to the landmark Fountain Place office tower.

Starts this summer?!.. nice surprise. Hopefully this becomes a catalyst for more pedestrian centric projects in this section of asphalt abyss.

Oh I know...that part of Downtown is such a dud. On the bright side though it is a mostly blank canvas, so the projects going in there have the potential to be truly transformative. This new AMLI tower sure seems like a good start!

Just this along with the Fountain Place upgrades are already making that part look denser. Lots of potential.

Overall it's pretty complimentary to Fountain place.

Hopefully more pedestrian developments come to this part of town.

I actually prefer this design to the mirror. Also, because this is residential, it would have balconies, so it would look different anyway. I think this compliments Fountain place quite nicely. How awesome that they are 30 years apart yet look quite harmonious.

If this ends up getting started, then the Perot tower and the Asian Museum and tower thats a significant change and hopefully more ped friendly developments, not sure I see Perot going that way, will have to see.

I hope the don't go with the same color as Fountain place. With this building , the new garage in the back and Fountain place all the same color....it will be odd looking I think.

Just thinking out loud here... but why would CBRE have access to a final design, yet to be announced by AMLI, for an office leasing flyer? Could be way off, but I don't think that is the final design or even the design at all.

Me thinks the push-back is because it's not the accurate render. Pretty sure that render is from a different architecture firm than who AMLI is using. Not totally certain on that.

I really love the way it looks. I said over on SSP, Almost like Fountain Place's never built twin is finally coming along.

A duplicate story from the Fountain Place thread but there is an honorable mention on AMLI.

https://www.dallasnews.com/business/rea ... to-tenants

Goddard just sold the vacant lot on the north side of Fountain Place to Chicago-based builder Amli Residential.

Amli has begun site work for a 45-story, 367-unit apartment tower at the corner of Field Street and Munger Avenue.

The new tower will also be covered in green glass and has an angular shape.

The apartment high-rise will open in 2019.

Gables republic is shorter if you don't include the spire. It has 35 floors, I believe. Not to start an argument over total height vs. habitable height :P

The Drever is taller than both on all counts.

That looks pretty badass to me! My ONLY concern could be how it interacts with the street, but all in all, this is a pretty sweet tower.

No I'm okay with it. Just not crazy about it. I wish both fountain place and the amli building had better street presence though.

Field St is pretty horrific

Well since they are going down the road of making it fit as a part of the original building complex they will get press in architectural magazines, blogs, newspapers etc international and domestic whether critics like it or not. This tower is considered a very important piece of architecture history.

I maybe in the minority but I think its looks pretty kick ass, the planners did a very worthy job of making it fit fountain place but not look like the exact same thing.

I'm pretty pumped about it, it's about the best plan we could get sitting next to the original. I will reserve judgement on street presence until we see more.

Only a twin could compliment the first born. I would've preferred another "80s post-modernist original" next to it in order to accentuate the beauty of Fountain Place...but's that's just me.

You weren't kidding. I was listening to 102.1 in my car today, and they mentioned this tower, which was very surprising. I don't listen to the radio all that often, so I'm not sure if other buildings get this sort of attention, but I think you're right.

I'm very excited for this building, and I think they did an awesome job with the look of it. With all the cookie cutter apartment buildings that have been going up, I would have been happy with just something unique looking, but they took it a step further and made it compliment Fountain Place so well and, once it's done, I feel like it'll fit right in to our skyline.

I'm curious to see how the street-level presence turns out, but we still have a lot of develop-able land in the CBD, so if this very pedestrian friendly on the ground, I'll be okay with it still.
