Steve Brown Retiring

Post by Kelley USA »

Some of you may have seen the article, but after 40 years of covering DFW real estate, Steve Brown is retiring. I know some of you disliked Steve for his puff pieces, but honestly, that's part of the business. If you want the scoop down the road, you play nice and write a puff piece every now and then. The development circle in Dallas is smaller than you probably think. He did break quite a bit of news in his 40 years though, and I can't even begin to count how many of his stories were posted to this board. He did good work, and I'll miss reading his articles. So, Steve, if you're reading this, THANK YOU and enjoy retirement!

Steve reveal your identity.... What's your screen name? It's probably Hannibal Lecter.

His name was a car name or a type of ship. Also, a basketball team or something to cut your hair with. That should narrow it down.

And, all the best wishes and greatest of luck in the future to Mr. Brown. That was an incredibly long run!

Steve has been around long enough that he has a great perspective on past events impacting he city so I have always enjoyed that about him. He will be missed.

I agree with Kelley, Troy and Tnexster. Thank you Steve and all the best for your future endeavors. You broke a lot of great stories and we've all battled over many of them for years. Your work was appreciated and I'm sure not always easy to navigate the powers that be.

From Steve's replacement, Anna Butler:

"The data center will be built for high-density artificial intelligence. It will be located east of Highway 12 and south of Highway 183 at 505 North Wildwood Drive."

Highway 12?

I think I miss Steve already....

Hopefully someone will sit her down and show her what roads and streets are which around here, just like when a new TV/radio reporter or weatherperson gets here and they have to be told how to pronounce place names, like "Waxahachie".
