I wonder if Macy's has considered opening a Bloomie's (smaller format Bloomingdale's) in the former Pinto Ranch space. Or even better, a Bloomingdale's in the current Macy's. I know we've talked about it on here before, but Macy's is becoming a poor fit for the center. The store seems to only sell Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, and Polo in the men's section, with a small selection of Hugo Boss and Armani Exchange. Belk sells better stuff than Macy's now. They're able to keep Tommy Bahama, Vineyard Vines, Stuart Weitzman, Lilly Pulitzer, and Brooks Brothers all on their shelves.

Re: Northpark Center
Macy's in general has gone way downhill over the past decade. This Macy's is the best in the region and is still showing a huge decline, I'm just glad they haven't put that Backstage BS in there. Definitely need to change it with a Bloomingdales, but I don't think NorthPark wants to be ultra high end so it may stay as it is.acclar11 wrote:I wonder if Macy's has considered opening a Bloomie's (smaller format Bloomingdale's) in the former Pinto Ranch space. Dillard's maintains a selection for customers who Macy's used to target. I've seen drugstore makeup sold at the NorthPark Macy's and their constant reliance on partnerships with other stores (Claire's, Finish Line, Sunglass Hut) does not look good for the company itself.
I've imagined Bloomies opening where Disney once was.
Re: Northpark Center
Macy's changed to a Bloomies in Charlotte, so it could happen here. I think Dillard's could cover that part of the market for NorthPark and Bloomies would do well in there.
Re: Northpark Center
The temp Byredo has closed and construction drywall is covering the space. I assume the new store will be opening very soon. Is apm Monaco still slated for that spot?

Where did you hear about a Macy's in Charlotte converting to a Bloomingdales?R1070 wrote:Macy's changed to a Bloomies in Charlotte, so it could happen here. I think Dillard's could cover that part of the market for NorthPark and Bloomies would do well in there.
I'm not finding anything about it. The SouthPark Macy's is still a Macy's.

A pop-up? They renovated the entire storefront. The one at Park Meadows closed a few months ago too, and same story as NorthPark. I think West Village would be a good fit for them, Knox too.Proquest20 wrote:Upwest on Instagram said that this was a pop-up and that a new location is TBD.R1070 wrote:Is that the previous Disney spot?Proquest20 wrote:https://dallasexpress.com/metroplex/tra ... las-store/

Yea, didn't feel like a pop-up to me, unless they just did a short-term lease with NorthPark.acclar11 wrote:A pop-up? They renovated the entire storefront. They were on the proposed map for West Village back in the day as a tenant. Could see it going there for sure.

That’s what their Instagram post said. I wonder where they’ll reopen, maybe Mockingbird Station or the Galleria.

The new Victoria Secret opened. Weird location for it tbh, and these new storefronts look so cheap. They took away what made Victoria's Secret iconic and now it looks like an H&M. Anyway they announced the Amiri storefront.

Snappy Salads was great, and I hope whatever replaces it isn’t typical food court fare. It’s good that Zales is moving, I bet rent in the upper Macy’s court is definitely less expensive than in other parts of the mall.R1070 wrote:Zales is moving upstairs above their current store. I wouldn't be surprised to see Lego move to a larger spot as well. The store is too small and now doesn't it in with the nearby store selection,

I guess between Cava, Which Wich, Chipotle and the Juice Bar there were enough places to get salads. Loved Snappy though and I’m glad they’re not going with stereotypical food court fare.Jasimm wrote:Dallas Arts District based Pizza Leila to replace previous Snappy Salads.R1070 wrote:Zales is moving upstairs above their current store. Interesting choice as Eataly has a lot of options to eat onsite and then we have Maggiano's. Hopefully the new pizza concept will have the option for a quick slick of pizza.

I’ve always mentioned that I hope Maggianos and P.F Changs leave and are relocated with something nicer. Maggiano’s isn’t needed when there’s Eataly which includes full service restaurants, and P.F Changs isn’t really exclusive enough to be located right behind a Burberry.R1070 wrote:Interesting choice as Eataly has a lot of options to eat onsite and then we have Maggiano's. I would also like to see Corner Bakery Cafe leave or move (probably behind the AMC) now that the rest of that corridor has changed.

Exactly, it’s a little redundant when there’s La Madeleine only a few steps away too. It’s much better suited for the north side of the shopping center.R1070 wrote:I agree and that Corner Bakery space could make a great retail spot.
As for Maggiano’s, it’s a two story space that could be perfect for a conversion to a hotel tower. Which NorthPark really does need if it wants to stay relevant as other shopping centers have, or are adding, hotels. I’ve been a little bit surprised by the lack of hotel space directly surrounding the mall, and what is there is mostly budget brands like La Quinta. The “preferred hotels” NorthPark lists all are over 5 miles from the mall.

Re: Northpark Center
They better bring it back to the Macy’s side of the mall (part of where the old VS was)… or to West Village. Seems like another instance of the Dallas Market not embracing a great brand enough, as always. The selection at the NorthPark Nordstrom is very lacklustre and does not make up for the loss of their store.luxeshop97 wrote:AllSaints is boarded up, so I guess we will see if this is permanent or not. Come to think of it, I’ve never not been the only person in the store, and have never seen more than one employee there.
Re: Northpark Center
I think it also has to do with NorthPark always wanting to shuffle stores around and some brands lose out. Diesel was a victim of this and eventually came back.

I called Allsaints today and they said Dallas is permanently closed with no future plans. Who knows if that is just a cover or the truth I guess time will tell.luxeshop97 wrote:AllSaints is boarded up, so I guess we will see if this is permanent or not. Maje is now open in their new location.

Re: Northpark Center
There’s plenty of other space in the mall that isn’t being utilised properly though, they didn’t have to kick the only location for a good brand in the metro for Tory Burch (4 locations in the metro) when there’s stores like Corner Bakery Cafe in the same hallway. I guess I answered the question myself when I said the store never seemed popular.R1070 wrote:I think it also has to do with NorthPark always wanting to shuffle stores around and some brands lose out. The whole shuffling things around and kicking out good stores at NorthPark really turns me off on the place, like it actually makes me want to just go to the Houston Galleria instead. I really hope Dallas is embracing some of the nice brands we do have, Mariela and Maria Tash were such good additions to the Center and I hope they stay a while.

Re: Northpark Center
Northpark is giving the appearance of a struggling mall with all the boarded up storefronts. Many of them have “coming soon”, but just as many are boarded up with nothing coming. The whole corner across from Starbucks is particularly sad looking. And upstairs appears to be really struggling.
Re: Northpark Center
It’s the beginning of the year. Lots of leases are up. NorthPark is notorious for shifting around stores and bringing in new ones. It’s a top tier mall, and they can be picky about who goes where within their walls.

Re: Northpark Center
It seems like there’s a lot more shuffling around stores than bringing in new ones right now though. And I’ve never seen that at any mall. And I don’t really see NorthPark as being picky, they can’t afford to be when most malls are struggling. There’s changes that needed to be made to NorthPark like, 10 years ago that they’re still not making. It’ll be very rough on NorthPark if the never decide to go the mixed-use route like every major mall in the country has.R1070 wrote:It’s the beginning of the year. Lots of leases are up. Michael Kors has abruptly closed, leaving the Galleria location as the last remaining boutique in DFW (besides outlets). That’s shocking tbh…
