H-E-B Has Finally Arrived in DFW!!!

According to several reports, the ex-Albertsons at US 67/Wheatland that was acquired by H-E-B a while back, is 1 of the 2 announced locations. The other is in Pleasant Grove near Buckner/Samuell. The brand is apparently lower-priced and a smaller format with an average of 10,000 items per store. Neither location is projected to open before Spring of 2025.

Good to know! Hope that you are having a good summer. On Patch.com a poster called Alex Magg uploaded an item this week that added this detail:
The 4101 W. Wheatland Road store is slated to open in late summer 2024, with its 5204 S. Buckner Blvd. counterpart projected to follow in Spring 2025.

Groundbreaking for the H-E-B Melissa location has been confirmed. The date is 1/11. 4
Traffic's going to be hell in that area between it and Buc-ee's
BTW, with the Taco Casa there, that's fixing to become one of the most "Texas" corners in the region (if not Texas)...

Note that if you're ever traveling across the Deep South, their Taco Casa chain is an unrelated restaurant that also started in the early 1970s. Their founder was from Kansas.

The Melissa store is projected to have more square footage (131,000) than the other new Dallas-area H-E-B stores have opened with.

In the Suburban section, an article link shows that the Waxahachie store is getting an expansion, and will become an H-E-B plus! store after work is completed.

It's time to get light rail primed for expansion to Waxahachie and Midlothian.

Forney will see a new H-E-B after all. It will be part of an upcoming retail center further east, just off the north side of US 80. H-E-B will hang onto land off US 80/FM 548 it had previously acquired for a store.

So Dallas isn’t even getting a real HEB while the suburbs are getting HEB’s that are more expensive than Whole Foods? So overrated.

Do you know where in Dallas:
1. Has demographics similar to the northern suburbs and Far North FW?
2. Has enough real estate to support the type of stores H-E-B is building without cannibalizing Central Market?
The answer to those questions is Far North Dallas, but we already know FND is completely built out *AND* a Walmart fortress.

At least in my experience it’s been more expensive, maybe it’s just not meant for me so the options I’m looking for in particular are more specialised, and so they’re a little more limited. My Prime subscription is probably a contributing factor also. But in my experience the locations I’ve been to seem to have insane markups.

Huh?
isn’t Joe V’s like, lower end than Walmart? what about the areas makes them unable to support a regular HEB store? the locations in San Antonio and Houston aren’t all in upscale areas and do just fine. HEB is almost the same as Central Market around here.
Joe V's feels like an insult if anything.

Re: H-E-B Has Finally Arrived in DFW!!!
There's a notion on this forum over the years that Dallas is undeserving of HEB because it doesn't meet the "demographics" (I will let you imagine what that is a thinly veiled hidden meaning for), while the truth is that HEB's bread and butter has been the San Antonio and Rio Grande Valley for literally over a century. Poorer, and much more hispanic. Not lily white Nascar suburbs like Frisco, McKinney, McAnna, McBanana or whatever lifeless, desolate field they're building tract housing on this month. So quit it with that BS.
There just aren't readily available sites like the aforementioned desolate fields in Dallas proper. So they will have to take a different approach, probably along the lines of Tom Thumb's recent urban stores or the new urban HEB in Houston. This will take more time, effort, and money so it's not the lowest hanging fruit.
"Demographics" are not the problem.

They better open up actual HEB stores in like, Mesquite, Garland, Arlington, etc. in that case.

This is why it's so frustrating that HEB spent the time and money to secretly acquire all of the separate parcels on the 3900 block of Lemmon—waiting out commercial leases and buying out townhome owners—to assemble a site large enough for the footprint of the urban HEB in Houston, reasonably far enough away from the *someday* Central Market at Lemmon and McKinney, and with demographics that include Highland Park only a few blocks away! Then they decide to sell to a developer just starting to do its own multifamily projects. DCAD doesn't show Trademark as the owner of that block yet, so maybe there's still some basis for my dwindling hope that HEB reconsiders this location.

H-E-B has added to its land holdings. The property is on the future path of the Dallas N. Tollway in Celina. This is in addition to another site in the city on Preston Road.
