Is there a possibility of getting a gasless QT like in Atlanta?

CTroyMathis wrote:It's interesting how big this site will be if QT has the restaurant plot too. Plus, it'll have both Lemmon Espressoways as entrances probably. This place will likely do rather well for myriad reasons. It's not remotely an exciting urban infill or final-use development for sure - obviously. The existing power lines will now likely remain on this stretch for a very long time as well. I wonder if there'll be EV charging . Do these QT places remain open/staffed inside for 24 hours?
Actually, I am not sure it is confirmed they will combine the property with the restaurant. It looks like someone here mentioned it casually, and everyone else ran with it. The restaurant itself falls under PD 190, and would require a zoning change to combine no?
Here is the original article:
https://www.dmagazine.com/commercial-re ... to-dallas/

It mentions it is 1 acre in size, which is roughly what the vacant shell station is, looking at the scale bar on a map , roughly. It is zoned for PD 193 GR, which I suppose means PD 193 general retail? Unless someone can clarify what PD 193 is, that means the current shell station could fall within current zoning regulations, so given that the lease was already completed, there’s nothing left to do but protest :D

Lastly, it would be funny if this tiny 3 line article excerpt mentioning Quiktrip is actually a huge leak and QuikTrip wants to move their local HQ there, and this whole hullabaloo is actually moot since we aren’t actually talking about a gas station :D

PS. It would be nice if an admin moved this Quiktrip conversation into a separate forum post so that it is not sidestracking more relevant updates on uptown closings/openings

I doubt it. But now that i think of convenience store would be alright.
But would rather it not be a QT. I'd rather have one of those no name convenience stores that has taqueria inside and a walk up window and 24 hr operation

That screenshot of the gasless QT in Atlanta has a SkyHouse building in the back ground. We have a few of those around here already. That QT is the first floor of a highrise itself it appears. There is a red brick CVS across the street. Let the rumors begin!

Looks like a new Steakhouse from Chicago is coming to Uptown... It'll be a new ground-up build at the corner of Wolf & Maple. Seems fitting considering the name is Maple & Ash. They have 2 locations- Chicago and Scottsdale. This looks to be a VERY nice steakhouse. From the same group that opened Monarch at The National.

I feel like we have more than enough steakhouses in this part of town, but I like that this one looks more trendy. I don't go to steakhouses often, but the ones I have been feel a bit more 'classic' in their look. Not really a bad thing, but it'll be nice to see something a little different.

I know it had been mentioned at some point, but looks like Sugar Factory is taking over the Ruth's Chris Steakhouse location on Cedar Springs.

Along with the recent news confirming it further, this just seems like a big "I don't know what to think about it". Haha.

With locations in some of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities, including Las Vegas, New York City, Bahrain, Chicago, Miami and Orlando, Sugar Factory is known the world over for its celebrity-endorsed Couture Pops

This might be old news, but Level (the bar across from Kung Fu) had a fence around it. I haven't walked down this street in months, so perhaps this fence has been then for a while now.

And yes the fence has been up for a while. I think it's probably gonna sit that way until someone buys it with money to burn. Every club that has operated there hasn't lasted long.

After nearly 20 years in Dallas’ West Village, Mi Cocina will close and relocate
By the end of 2021, Mi Cocina will leave Dallas’ West Village shopping development and reopen at a new address in Uptown Dallas.
He considers the approach for Klyde Warren Park and Uptown Dallas to be “two different areas,” with two distinct customer bases. The West Village restaurant will find a new home at an address on McKinney Avenue — one Guevara won’t name right now because it currently has another tenant.

“It’ll be neat: We’ll be able to have both the Klyde Warren space that opens in the fall and this new space that opens later in the year,” Guevara says. “There will be two locations on McKinney where people can drink Mambos.”

All we know for now is that the new restaurant is near the West Village restaurant — “blocks away,” the CEO says.

I'm definitely sad to see this leave the West Village, and curious what the future of that area will look like.

On the other hand, I think it's great that they still feel confident about opening up a location near Klyde Warren and a second one somewhere else in Uptown. I love that this is going along McKinney Ave, though.

I wonder which spot Mi Cocina will snag on McKinney. He mentions it is currently occupied by another restaurant. Maybe Bisous in One Uptown, where Le Cirque failed? Bisous reviews look awful, and it’s a large space.

Somewhere closer to Knox might make more sense so there’s more distance from the upcoming Klyde Warren Mi Cocina.

I liked Bisou (both the food and the service was fantastic), but it's definitely a scene and not for everybody.

This is the address of Del Friscos Grille. Also the hint was that tge space was currently occupied. Although, I am confident this move will create much interest in the two empty restaurant spaces on that block.

Yes this was already reported in the news that they would be leaving the West Village after what feels like decades in the West Village.

The Bibbentuckers at McKinney & Lemmon is moving across Lemmon to 3400 Carlisle. I did not see any change of ownership of the property in DCAD, and Posh Nail, Papa John’s, The Boardroom and MW remain open.

That's a bit surprising. It seems like their current space is a great location and highly visible with plenty of surface parking and an easily accessible drive-through. As much as I despise suburban-style development in the middle of the city, as a business you would think they would want to hang on to a space like that.

The optimist in me is thinking there are indeed bigger plans for this whole strip mall. We'll have to see what happens to the other retail in this strip.

The strip center is big enough for a residential development easily and would be the only densest thing on that block between McKinney Ave, Cole Ave and Lemmon with the QT planned next to it and the tackiest CVS ever planned in the city holding down the other corner.

Mi Cocina is moving to the old Savor location. When I was over eating at Hugo's Invitados, the waitress told me the the Hugos owners would be taking over the Mi Cocina spot in West Village with a new concept. This was a few months back. Take it with a grain of salt.

I think DMN reported that Taco Diner in WV is closing too. Too bad they couldn’t hold out past Mi Covina. They should have picked up some of that business.

Ooops, just checked. They closed a few days ago.

I believe Mi Cocina will have two locations, one at savor, and one at the current Del Frisco’s Spot on McKinney Avenue.

Yes x3. Taco Diner is reloading their brand it appears although I think they'll still have one location.

Taco Diner concepts (old/perhaps new) will be dished from the backside of old Savor/new KWP Mi Cocina (sister) in the old Relish part of the building facing Olive St. and the porch at KWP as well.

I dont get the magic of Bucees. I been to a few in travel across the state its a Walmart gas station big for the sake of what reason? At least Walmart has a reason to sell that much stuff I don't need. Most of Bucees squarefeet is so much trinkets and useless country crock decor. The only slightly redeeming quality is the bathrooms and honestly QT has as nice just not as big making QT and Racetrac look like the small town alternative.

I don't understand this part of Uptown in between West Village and Hall. It creates a gap of energy that should be filled with high rises and people everywhere. Eventually if it is not built out it will be a hole compared to rest of area.
