Someone correct me but I think it’s 18. And do those forms move 4 floors at a time?

I live on the 22nd floor of The 23 and it's just about eye level now. They're moving quickly.

Anyone noticed how this one is being built? Do those forms move 4 floors at at time? It does look different from what we have seen before but don't know what that means.

I'm a little rusty, but, I think this method is similar to complex/integrated building technique. Whatever it is, it's not used often here it seems. A lot can be said for this technique, though. I believe it's fairly common to some extent in Russia, Middle East, SE Asia. Probably elsewhere as well. Just my own casual observations/anecdote. Pretty sure I've seen it in NYC as well.

The concrete frame for the Victor is being constructed using the "jump form" (or climbing form) technique. This is the first time I have seen it used in Dallas. It is commonly used to construct concrete cores in advance of the erection of the surrounding steel framing in office buildings, when both framing systems are used. It seems to be less commonly used for the construction of the perimeter/exterior concrete walls (which are rare on most projects) and columns, in the US at least. To the extent that I am aware, this technique seems to occur more frequently for concrete-framed towers in New York & Chicago than in the South and West.

Here's a short video about this technique being used on a tower currently under construction in Austin:

I don't think this article was posted since its more about the look and feel inside coming soon to the Victor but more renderings of the amenities areas. The article is a hoot to read how excited they are about the ice machine...

https://www.papercitymag.com/real-estat ... er/#177152

“Taking advantage of an area where we have an opportunity to go unlimited height, which is something you can’t do anywhere else in Dallas unless you’re downtown,” Hines associate Corbin Eckel says of the sky-high vision for The Victor, a 344-unit luxury apartment tower. “Uptown, which is really the market we compete with, they’re capped at 240 feet max height. Unless you get a rezone, which is really hard to do in Uptown Dallas. Very contentious zoning process.

...That means a Sky lounge level on the 36th floor, giving all the residents of the tower access to the very best views in every direction — and their own living room in the sky. (The only thing above the Sky level are three floors of penthouses — 18 individual penthouses to be precise.)

Kinda weird to brag about being able to go "unlimited height" when you decide not to build taller than several buildings in the immediate vicinity.

Yeah, it seems kind of strange to me. They talk about competing with Uptown, but aren't they really competing with the buildings right next to them?

I hate to say it but sonic ice is a thing. I only will have ice in my drink if it is "sonic/QT" style ice. It sounds dumb I realize, but I don't care for ice in my drink. However, this type of ice has somehow been ok with me. Just about everyone I know prefers this type of ice as well.

^word.... I'm not particular about my ice, but since, like 15 years ago, I've known people who will drive to Sonic just for the ice.

Trip to downtown yesterday. The core can be seen from the Woodall Rogers and most of Griffin St. Very excited to see how this building will turn out.

The first pic was taken right in front of the lovely new Tom Thumb. From that angle, Nowitzki Way/Olive almost looks like an inviting corridor to walk down, with the Victor jutting into the sky as a waypoint. It's a shame how Field, Houston, and the Northend apartments neuter the urban vibe of the area

I'm still disappointed in this lot. I like the building, just wish it had gone to another plot of land so we could get a tower over 500 Ft.

The Victor has continued to make its way to topping out at 39 floors. It appears the tower is nearing structural completion within the coming weeks with only 4 or 5 more floors to go before it tops out. The facade work is progressing nicely as well.

Or maybe it's easy to keep the sites fully staffed (or working overtime) now that unemployment is so high? I know less than nothing about construction staffing.

Also I think the design of the tower is fairly simple from a concrete perspective. Its about moving them molds filling setting and moving up to the next floor.

Typical high rise construction goes up at a pace of about 7-8 days per floor. This building came out of the ground a year ago, so the construction does not seem to have been notably faster than typical. In fact, it might have been a little slower.

Could be some truth here although that industry has kept pace during the shutdown and even in the lean times they seem to somehow find workers willing to do the job. The shortage was estimated to be between 20,000-30,000 pre-covid but have seen no recent data on that. I would imagine there is still a shortage but might not be as high.

Forgot to post these. Disappointed in the height of this building; this could've had a couple of more floors and break the 500' mark. Now it just seems like its competing with W Victory. We have yet to see the cladding on its west side, but glass hasn't disappointed!

I'm not complaining but I would have liked to have seen a slender, taller tower here.
