I would love to see this come to Northpark and give it a denser more urban quality.

It would be the first JW in Dallas and north TX. Currently in TX, there is one, a golf course resort in far north San Antonio, 2 in Houston (downtown, and by the Houston Galleria), and a new one in downtown Austin.

Hmmmm... pretty old list (note that it also lists several in 2017 as "future openings") and it's not from Marriott's website; it's from the website of a travel event company. I wouldn't hold my breath on the basis of this list.

L'Occitane is just doing a store refresh and Chicos is closing this location very soon if not already. I was surprised when they moved within the mall because I assumed they would have closed then given the number of locations close by.

JW Marriott checks the boxes why they and NP would do a hotel

1. Largest hotel membership rewards program by double over any hotel group
2. A luxury hotel where executives can expense their stays vs a Ritz or Four Season
3 More Fortune 500 customers than all other hotels
4. Being next to NorthPark provides the hcustomer with world class shopping, art, dining which equals Heads in beds = $$$$

^ I do think a JW Marriott hotel is sorely needed in Dallas but this is 100% the wrong place to put it. A hotel like that belongs downtown. Putting something like that at Northpark is the type of sprawl that created the mess we have on our freeways and the smog in the air. It is the exact opposite of smart urban development. The kind of person staying at the JW Marriott is not staying there to shop at North Park.

Hate to break it to ya, but putting a JW Marriott downtown isn't going to magically "un-sprawl" the Loop 12 & 75 intersection - That ship has sailed. If anything, a high-end luxury hotel at NorthPark will spur further office, retail, and residential development *in* Dallas that would otherwise go to Frisco/Prosper.

Northwest Highway is Dallas' equivalent of Houston's West Loop South (if only in distance from the core -- LBJ is much farther than 610) -- and while the first JW Marriott in Texas went there, eventually a second one did find central Houston too. There it and the Lancaster and the ICON are the most expensive available downtown behind the Four Seasons; major luxury hotels in town are out west.

Whether or not one is greenlit at Northpark, though, the proposal discussed above would be the smallest of the properties with that flag in the state:

1012 rooms
[Convention Center], opened 2015
Austin

283 rooms
Downtown, 2014
Houston

1002 rooms
Hill Country Resort, 2010
San Antonio

514 rooms
"By the Galleria", 1982
Houston

I'm surprised there's only one Ritz in Dallas-Plano.

...and the NorthPark area is long overdue for a heavy dose of office space.

My sense is that at the margin between very wealthy and scandalously wealthy, Texans and Oklahomans have almost always opted to spend more time on properties devoted to skiing, ranching, or fishing, as opposed to additional toes on the ground in their city.

And that when they downsize and sell the house it's to spend more time in those properties in New Mexico, Colorado, or rural Texas/Louisiana/arkansas, which dampens the volume of city condo & serviced apartment/hotel development in the metros where they made their careers.

That is exactly why urban Dallas needs more moderately priced condo towers. People including myself would live and buy one if it was within reach of people still living out their career here in Dallas. Towers here are in two groups Apartment rentals and super high end $$$$$ condo units. I still say an appropriately priced tower similar to what has been built for rentals in the West Village area for sale would work. There is no option in that area to purchase in a tower setting only to rent.

Stuart Weitzman is moving next to Johnny Was in the 2nd space created from the Talbot's closure. Fresh is moving upstairs next to Game Stop (Possibly a temporary location). Tod's has moved into a temporary space where the Bottle Top Pop-Up was. It looks like Janie and Jack could be closing with sale signs in the windows and "all sales final" signs.

Not sure what is going into the previous Henri Bendel and Chico's spaces. I don't know if Tod's is just refreshing their same space or planning a move to a new space that could be opening up.

Tod's moved for a renovation of their regular space. Fresh is in a temporary space because they are swapping locations with origins. I imagine Golden Goose will take the current Stuart Weitzman spot after they move.Still not sure what the plans are for the previous Chicos and Henri Bendel spaces.

Loving all these updates! Any word on what will happen to the previous Pirch space? Such a big spot to be sitting empty for so long.....

Also Tesla recently announced the closure of most retail stores to make ends meet, except for high volume retail areas. Wonder if the Northpark location will survive...

Also Charlotte Russe is closing its San Francisco HQ and announced bankruptcy so we will see if they are around much longer... already closed store around DFW.

Janie & Jack seems to have been saved from closure from the recent purchase of the brand.

Peek Aren't You Curious looks to be on it's way out though.

Is Versace planning to go where Ferragamo was before?

4 cool exclusive new retailers are coming to NorthPark but the huge one is taking the former PIRCH space. This is what I’ve heard through the grapevine, it’s one of the coolest concepts I have ever seen.
The other 3 are high fashion.

According to the Spring 2019 map Wolford is no longer listed. The space has been combined with Tod's to then be split between a newly renovated Tod's and new Golden Goose boutique.

With NorthPark repositioning the retail and going more upscale, I wonder if they have any plans to revamp the restaurant space? The retail tenant mix doesn't necessarily mesh with the likes of Kona Grill, PF Chang's and Season's 52 which are basically all mid-scale chains. I mean I love them all, just not sure they appeal to the type of shopper that NorthPark is going after these days.

Beyond the food court I wonder when they will add a hotel or residential tower component or both to the mix. I really think there is a market there for that type of development and it would also make it more urban than just a shopping center.

Well, considering its surrounded by other high rise towers I think we can still consider it Urban by the Dallas standard which means everyone is driving but the density is still there.

As I posted a couple weeks ago NorthPark has some BIG news coming soon
From reliable sources and it’s more than just retail tenants, Big important retailers take time to finalize deals. Patience!!
As for new restaurants all the exitisting restaurants do well and like all restaurant deals they sign long term leases. I’m sure NorthPark wants to upgrade when they can get control of the spaces.

Snooze. I feel like Northpark used to be on a roll now it's a dribble. They told me by the end of the new year they would have a major announcement and it was Dolce & Gabbana who has 8,000 other stores across the globe.

Will they get cool new retailers on board in the next year or two? I'm sure of it. But I'm not waiting anymore with breathless anticipation.

hjkll you are clueless. NP has brought in or adding 15 exclusive retailers you can only find at NP in DFW in the last year. Name a center that has brought in half that many new retailers.

Happy to have Eataly in Dallas, but ugh, at NorthPark??? It cements every negative stereotype people have about Dallas. That something good can't work unless it surrounded by massive highways and parking lots. Was hoping for it in Uptown where it makes more sense. Sigh.

I do much of my apparel shopping at NorthPark, but I consolidate it into fewer but bigger shopping trips, maybe once a quarter. I won't change that to go to Eataly more often than once a quarter. It's just too much of a madhouse to get in and out of there. In a location like that, I don't think they will have people adopt it as a regular source of their food shopping/dining.

I’ve been to Eatalys 2 new locations in
Boston and LA which are both in busy shopping centers and they are both busier than Chicago which is like Uptown . The Pirch location has its own parking lot which is perfect for Eataly. They picked the busiest location in Dallas which is smart

I actually have been to both New York locations as well as Chicago and though it never crossed my mind I think North Park might be the best viable spot for Eataly in the Metro. It would draw from the entire region especially on weekends it would be a destination.

So my new choice for eating at Northpark will be between the chicken salad sandwich sampler plate and tortilla soup at Neiman's or the shaved prime rib sandwich at Eataly.

Great addition to the mall, although I was really hoping they would locate somewhere more urban. I suppose better here than somewhere else in the metroplex. I'm pretty sure, for a time, we thought it was going to Legacy West. I can't seem to find the thread about that, but I think it had to do with the fact that their timeline suggested they were going into an existing space. There may have been other hints that indicated Plano, but relieved to hear it's going to Dallas instead.
