Aerial (Drone) Tour of Dallas/Fort Worth

Postby msisrael » 24 Apr 2018 15:52

Here is a very high quality drone video that provides an aerial tour of DFW, focusing on the pro sports facilities:

Those were some great shots of the city! It's too bad the visuals weren't better synced to the script though, so when the narrator was talking about Deep Ellum, etc, they showed the corresponding imagery. It was a bit disjointed to see the Infomart when they were talking about the convention center, old Parkland while they were talking about Deep Ellum, and so on. Still, very cool!

Everbody I've shown this to is just blown away. But, I am amazed at the number of people who had no idea we were the 4th largest metro in the nation. How do they not know this?

...so it's a good thing they didn't say "powered by championships" then. ;)

Powered by sports? We're powered by finance and logistics industries.

Awesome video! Just a few minor tweaks with the images corresponding with the narration...would make it even better.

I love the shot of Uptown at 0:37

Did I hear correctly? Did he say GLOBAL Life Park? In a video promoting Dallas sports?

Yep. When the marquee very clearly says "Globe Life Park" in the shot. Narration overall is really poor content-wise, but the footage is amazing.

They should re-record then send to jeff.bezos@amazon.com :D

How difficult was it to get Love Field and DFW Airport to allow you the airspace to fly in Class B?

The video bounces back and forth between discussing Dallas centric things like Deep Ellum, Uptown etc. Then jumps into discussing regional wins like Exxon Mobile and American Airlines. Then labels the Metroplex as the unofficial sports capital why? Because we have the Rangers, Cowboys, Dallas Stars, and Mavericks. How many major metros have 4 franchises like that? Is that a thing worth getting super excited about?

I'm pretty sure this was done in preparation for the NFL draft, so it makes sense... Had it been done for the State Fair, they would have called it the Unofficial Carnival Capital, or something along those lines. No doubt. I'm sure they're just catering to their target demographic.

I don't expect a Snopes hit on it, or anything like that.
