Plano: Legacy

Postby jrd1964 » 23 Jul 2018 21:04

Headquarters II is a new project with twin 14-story office towers and a high-rise hotel, to be built at Headquarters/Dallas Pkwy. It is set for completion in early 2020, but no announced tenants for the office space nor definite plans or brand for the hotel were revealed at the groundbreaking.

Highland Capital, the firm that previously acquired the Tower at Cityplace, has recently acquired the former EDS complex in Plano. Although analysts see the property as a redevelopment possibility, no such specific details were revealed in the article.

I believe they are doing some minor additions to Legacy Hall - something like adding more upper patios. I've been a few times for the free concerts. I'm starting to think the food hall will be ok as it really is a nice concert venue for families and something the northern half of Dallas did not have at all.

Ahhh man that is sad. I worked at a summer camp at SMU Legacy all throughout my high school and during most of my college years, from about '04-'12. So many good memories from those buildings.

Thanks for posting this. Sad to hear but likely for the best!

The Standard Pour is opening a 2nd location at Shops at Legacy. This will be the vacated Taco Diner spot (which I guess I didn't even know it had closed down)…

Two things come to mind here:
1) Is Taco Diner in trouble? (related: Am I living under a rock and just now realizing this?) They have closed locations in Addison, Richardson and here at Shops at Legacy.
2) Is the Gingerman in trouble? I know the Standard Pour isn't the exact same concept, but it seems like having two pub-ish spots next to each other is a little duplicative. Maybe I'm just over-thinking it on account of the Uptown Gingerman being on the outs.

I think the answer to your first question is yes... They also somewhat recently closed their Southlake location and a Dallas location in Preston Village. I think the reality is the brand is stale and a number of new concepts have come into that market that are better. They changed their menu which drove away a number of customers, then they tried to change it back after sales dropped.

Not sure about the Gingerman. I think they're doing okay! The new location in Las Colinas was pretty packed this past Saturday night.

Good to know! This is area is one of the places I go to hang out when visiting my parents up in The Colony, so now we have another place to check out.

Porsche is going to build a 5 story car dealership north of the Aloft Hotel, with cars viewable through glass on the upper floors. I think the DNT dips in this area, but if the cars were level with the DNT that would be pretty cool. Instead they are going to be way above. The combined Porsche/Audi dealership south will become dedicated to Audi.
