This project is planned across the Tollway from the Star, on 7 acres, with an outdoor stage, an auditorium, and a restaurant.

With so many music-based or music-related venues around here, I'm not sure how well yet another spot is going to do.

My thoughts exactly. Irving just opened one up. Seems like overkill.

^ As in it wont be successful? maybe... If its only competition is the Toyota music factory in Irving... Im not sure they will be in much competition due to their distance from each other..

Ugh i just saw the preliminary plans and it looks so basic.... If they cant pull off anything new and exciting in those 7 acres then it will most definitely flop. :/

Between this development, Lava Cantina, the Box Garden, the Star, Toyota Stadium (aka Jimmy Buffet/Edgefest stadium) , there are quite a few options up this way. What venues are these spots taking away from? It seems they each serve a slightly different tier.

Couldn't disagree more. Travelling acts aren't gonna stop twice in DFW and in different locations.

Not to mention the already existing event spaces in Grand Prairie and the Starplex pavilion, Music Factory, HOB, bomb factory, Billy Bob's, Southside Ballroom etc...

They're most definitely competing with each other.

It's like they just put something out there, sort of a "me too" plan.

This project and the Irving Music Factory are not even in the same category. They won't be competing with each other at all. This proposal calls for a 1000 seat theatre. The Irving Music Factory has a seating capacity of 8500. Even solely as an indoor venue the Irving Music Factory still seats 4000. Plus the IMF has the power of Live Nation behind it for booking concerts, shows etc...

This seems more geared to compete with places like House of Blues, Lava Cantina and the Bomb Factory. Perhaps even compete with some shows that might come to Winspear.

I was thinking about that earlier, The venues all have different amounts of seating which are geared to varying ranks of traveling bands/artists. Plus not all venues will host all genres of music. Haven't heard of an EDM concert being held at House of Blues...

I Wonder what kinds of music will be played there.

So it's basically a stand alone venue with a ton of parking. At least that is what I see.
