Cowboys add another corporate partner to The Star in Frisco

http://www.bizjournals.com/dallas/news/ ... iscos.html

The Dallas Cowboys and Blue Star Land have added another company to The Star in Frisco: PlainsCapital Bank.

The Dallas-based bank has signed two new leases — a 5,083-square-foot office lease and a 4,000-square-foot retail lease — within the One Cowboys Way in Frisco, which is the world corporate headquarters of the Cowboys.

I think I heard somewhere that they filled that space with companies that all had some association with the Cowboys or with Jones.

East Hampton is a bit surprising too, considering there is one just down the Tollway at Shops at Legacy.

Could be some of that but probably mostly fans, anything Cowboy related seems to a sure sell. I'm surprised Jones hasn't tried that concept in Arlington.

Mayor: Frisco to focus on quality over quantity development, performing arts center

http://www.bizjournals.com/dallas/news/ ... ntity.html
Frisco will redouble its efforts to lure corporate headquarters and other large projects to the city and focus on quality development over quantity, new Mayor Jeff Cheney said at a luncheon today.

The city also will work with the private sector to construct a performing arts center, likely in Hall Office Park, Cheney said in outlining his goals for his first 100 days in office.

The old downtown is still growing - there's an apartment building under construction now that replaced some small city buildings and some of the old places have closed (unfortunate) to be replaced by living space. But the city hasn't done anything else, like lure a fancy hotel (all along E/W sides of US75) or any kind of special attraction. I guess they are content to add local population for now.

Blue Star Land has filed plans with Frisco — three more office buildings at The Star, say DBJ and DMN, 7 to 12 stories tall.
Believe it or not, they’re not for Amazon.

Well Frisco (and Plano or any of the burbs but Plano makes slightly a smidgen more sense) was never in the running for Amazon to begin with, especially not after embarrassing themselves with their half assed proposal they sent in. Never met any of the requirements Amazon set forth for HQ2 and Amazon last week was touring the potential sites in downtown Dallas.

In the days of EDS and Frito-Lay and blue wool suits, I guess Plano could get away with being a fresh but somewhat boring brand. Lately with infrastructure beginning to age, more stylish housing stock further north, a growing airport owned by county seat McKinney, and a municipal name that resembles most closely, uh, "Plain," "Plain old," "Drāno," and "Bland," it will take more than Legacy West to stay in any national conversation.

High-rise apartment construction starts at Dallas Cowboys' Star in Frisco

https://www.dallasnews.com/business/rea ... tar-frisco

Construction has kicked off on the high-rise apartment tower joining the Dallas Cowboy's Star complex in Frisco.

The 17-story Star House apartments are being built at Gaylord Parkway and Cowboys Way, across the street from the Ford Center and the Baylor Scott & White Sports Therapy & Research.

The 160-unit luxury apartment tower has been in the works since last year and is being developed by Columbus Realty Partners and Cowboys' owners the Jones family.

^ Great photos! It's really amazing to see all of this development take shape. I love that they're are building out what seems to be tons of retail/restaurants and residential simultaneously. I'm not sure what kind of foot traffic is there on a typical day, but it seems that it will only grow as things are built out, especially with Frisco Station.

I'm trying to compare apples to oranges.... so, if starting at the turn of the century, almost a generation ago, and compare Greater Uptown (Woodall Rodgers-Katy Trail-I35-Knox) to the Plano/Frisco area anchored by Legacy/Hall Office Parks including the developing $5 Billion Mile.... what does the total development investment bottom line say?

There is no doubt that all those penthouses are already leased to the Dallas Cowboys themselves. It's an easy place for Jerry Jones and family to stay if ever needed or an easy place for them to put up business associates, potential advertisers etc... that may come to The Star to visit. And some of the high dollar players may have leased them as well.

https://www.bizjournals.com/dallas/news ... s-way.html

Units come in one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans, ranging in size from 850 to 2,600 square feet. Rent starts at $2,700 per month, twice the Dallas average.

Apartments feature floor-to-ceiling windows, quartz countertops, light and dark kitchen palettes, wine refrigerators, glass-enclosed showers and smart-phone controlled thermostats.

Many units also feature views that overlook the 91-acre campus of the Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters and The Star.

Tenants also have access to a covered pool and outdoor living space, access to room, food delivery and maid services from the nearby Omni Frisco Hotel, an on-site dog park and dog walking services.

I'll take 10% royalties on all uses, thanks :)

All joking aside, I really hope they do something good for public access to enjoy the mini "lake" right there. It's right there next the property they're developing & it starts in Frisco's "Central Park" and flows down there. Would be a great spot for a boardwalk, similar-ish to the Boardwalk in Granite Park.

Thank god I work from home these basic boxes get so boring to see pop along 75 and DNT. I get it you don't need the Taj Mahal to do office work but come on as a Architect it has to be terrible to be asked to do another one of these things and pretend you are proud of another blue box that could be anywhere designed by anyone else including a college student and no one tell the difference.

As long as the architect gets paid, I doubt they're complaining too much.

Unfortunately, value engineering is the modis operandi in 2021 (and it ain't going to get better).

Another reason I avoided getting into the architecture field I realized it wasn't about creativity and its better I focus on a job I could be happy with that didn't make me think I would have a creative outlet.
