Cedar Hill council counters critics, OKs 300-unit apartment complex

http://www.dallasnews.com/news/cedar-hi ... apartments

The development discussed on Tuesday, unofficially dubbed Preston Trail Center in preliminary discussions, would feature a mix of commercial and residential developments. It conforms to ideas under discussion in the city's City Center Plan, which aims to turn a large part of Cedar Hill into a walkable, transit-oriented area of retail, office and living space by 2030.

Tuesday night's zoning change from Local Retail to Planned Development paves the way for the complex.

FM 1382 Hike and Bike Trail

https://cedarhilltx.com/2352/FM-1382-Hi ... Bike-Trail

This was a pleasant surprise, extending from Clark Rd in Cedar hill all the way to the Joe Pool dam in the first two phases. The trail is all concrete and skirts along the edge of several preserves and parks and winds through trees, into a ravine and so on. For the moment it will end at the entrance to the dam but I understand that 1382 will be widened to six lanes and part of that project will be to extend the trail north, maybe to I-20.

Hotel And Convention Center Coming To Cedar Hill

Taking that spot once reserved for the Macy's store that was never built. Nice addition for the shopping center, they need to mix it up a bit.

Modlo — short for Modern Logistics — has industrial properties in more than a dozen states. And the property firm has three buildings in Houston. It intends to start construction early this year on its first North Texas project, a two-building industrial park in Cedar Hill.

The Cedar Hill Logistics Center will have almost a half million square feet of distribution space, according to planning documents filed with the state. The first building will be ready at the end of 2022.
