Deck the Plaza (Nov 30th): Tree Lighting Ceremony at City Hall

Postby DPatel304 » 15 Nov 2018 12:53

VisitDallas and the City of Dallas have collaborated on Deck the Plaza, a free holiday celebration taking place on November 30 which will feature the official illumination of City Hall Plaza, including the lighting of a 40-foot tree.

This is the first time the city will host such a celebration, but it's part of a bigger plan to add energy to and make use of the plaza in front of Dallas City Hall.

The schedule runs from 4:30-8 pm, as follows:

4:30 pm – Guest arrival
5:30 pm – Program begins
5:55 pm – Santa arrives
6 pm – Lighting of the plaza
7:15 pm – Photos with Santa
8 pm – Event ends

It's nice to see such a big event taking place in this part of Downtown. This article caught my eye, because, a few weeks ago, I went to Aurora which also took place in front of City Hall as well.

It sounds like there will also be a tree lighting at Klyde Warren Park the next day, and then Reliant Lights your Holiday later in the evening on Saturday as well. I know, in recent years, Klyde Warren Park has been considered the 'main' Christmas tree in the urban core, but it would be cool to see more people drawn to City Hall.
