The city council has unsurprisingly given the welcome mat treatment to the PGA, as the association made it clear Wednesday that they will depart south Florida for Frisco. There will be 2 18-hole courses built on their property, which will play host to 2 PGA championships, 2 LPGA majors, and 2 Seniors' tour majors (each tournament will take place in individual/different years, not annually). UNT is part of this announcement as well, with cross-branding as well as other tie-in possibilities to come. The previously-reported UNT-Frisco campus will be built close to where the PGA headquarters/golf courses will locate, which will be at the eventual intersection of Rockhill Pkwy./Legacy. An Omni hotel/resort will be built at the site near the headquarters building. Players on the golf teams of Frisco ISD's high schools will get to practice on the course(s) also, as part of the deal. The office/operations of the Dallas regional PGA office (currently at Preston/Beltline) will relocate to the new Frisco site, as well.
