When the media becomes the story

A man drove a pickup truck multiple times into KDFW/4's downtown Dallas building this morning. Sounds like everyone at Channel 4 is all right, but understandably shaken up. I guess they'll need to rethink those windows now.

I was watching this morning when this went down... Dude seems pretty unhinged. The Fox4 studio has always seemed so ready for a remake. This obviously isn't what I had in mind... But, perhaps any repairs they do will include adding bollards along the sidewalk to prevent vehicles from getting too close to the building. This is common in many buildings... not just to prevent intentional intrusion, but accidental as well. I'd love to see a full remodel of the studio.

I hate that studio. Time to go elsewhere.

The suspect has been let go. Authorities say they can't hold him if no one charges him with anything. Strange. Apparently no objections have been raised by KDFW, WFAA, or anyone else that could be connected to his case.

Strangely, KDFW/4 is not reporting about this on their website, but KXAS/5 and KTVT/11 are:
