KERA parent has acquired Denton newspaper

Interesting turn for North Texas Public Broadcasting. They have acquired the Denton Record-Chronicle, which will now become a non-profit. Both sides are upbeat, and mentioned how each will share journalists and their contributions with the other.

I don't think I've heard of a public TV or radio station, especially a PBS station, reaching out to want to own a newspaper. I'm not sure how this is going to work out for the paper, but it looks like KERA 90.1 has instantly added more journalists to beef up their on-air staff and content.
