Fort Worth: National Juneteenth Museum

Postby itsjrd1964 » 31 Oct 2021 05:37

A new museum, to be located on Rosedale in the historic Southside area, will open in 2023 to celebrate and remember Juneteenth and the history behind it. One of the exhibits to be placed there will be a pen used when President Biden signed the bill into law creating the national Juneteenth holiday. The museum, to be funded with corporate and individual donations, will be built on the site where an existing local version of a Juneteenth museum has been for the last 20 years. That museum, as well as the holiday itself, has been championed by Opal Lee, who has led walks for years to being recognition and remembrance of Juneteenth. Lee was present when Biden signed the Juneteenth holiday bill.
