"True Stories" screening with David Byrne

Postby itsjrd1964 » 07 Feb 2019 15:55

A screening of the movie "True Stories" is scheduled for March 14, at the Angelika-Mockingbird Station. David Byrne will be in attendance, and will be interviewed after the screening. By then, a Blu-Ray version of "True Stories" will be released, with the movie's soundtrack included.

I'd love an updated version of this movie, soundtrack.

I recall in the background of the song "Hey Now" the local water tower was visible. It didn't look like the name printed was Plano or Red Oak but I never quite caught it. Wonder what mall they shot the fashion show scene in. Nowadays that would be in an outdoor lifestyle center.

Yes, the interior shots were NorthPark and the exterior shots were Big Town Mall in Mesquite (long gone and not to be confused with Town East Mall). There was a water tower near BTM.

From IMDB “goofs” for the film:

The movie supposedly takes place in the town of Virgil, Texas. However, in one scene where little children in 4-H shirts are dancing in a field, a water tower is briefly visible in the background that clearly says "RED OAK".

Would love to see this film again.
