Is it finished?
Nope, still going up. I feel like they might be getting close to topping out, but every time I've thought that so far they just keep going.

They were installing glass on the first level last week.

Well it looks like they are actually more or less topped out. Still working on one of the structures up there but the decks have stopped.

Only in this group would people get excited over a parking garage Downtown. Sad.

Haha who's intended to use the garage?

I would not mistake people posting observations about this garage as excitement. Its just being observant which I think is good thing. Even if it's a garage.
Speaking of the garage, I thought at one time the developer mentioned the possibility of topping the garage with an additional structure.
Re: Downtown Dallas: Jackson at Market Parking Garage
The garage is being built to support future government office space on top and will have retail at the base. All of which are better than the random patch of grass that was there before.
Re: Downtown Dallas: Jackson at Market Parking Garage
Walked around this garage on Sunday. Pretty bland but still having some retail on the bottom and a building - even a garage - amid a sea of endless surface parking is still a step up for this side of downtown. Had breakfast at Cindi's and it was pretty packed.

The structure and core of the project is also designed to accommodate a future ‘Phase 2’ that can support a (max) 15-story development, either office, residential or hotel, on the Market Street side.

Wish they would just move forward with a residential tower on top.

Ideally yes.
The flip side of this is that I'm glad they are moving forward with something, rather than sitting on empty land until the residential tower makes sense. I know it's crazy of me to be pro the development of a parking garage, but honestly I wish more developers would take this phased approach rather than waiting for the entire development to 'make sense' before breaking ground.
Although, I get that the risk is that the latter phases don't happen and we are stuck with a parking garage only.

The 2nd phase announced to be a 15-story hotel:

Can't really gleam any sort of expected timeline from the article though.
Edit: beaten by seconds!
"New Dallas County parking garage will serve as base for hotel"
Dallas-based architecture firm Corgan thought up the sustainable first phase of design and is behind its second phase as well.
Next up for the site will be a 15-story hotel. Structural upgrades constructed during the first phase will aid in the hospitality project, which is set to capture anticipated visitors with the convention center’s upgrades.

Yeah, sounds pretty conceptual, to be generous.
Somehow this is magically going to "front the KBH Convention Center Dallas expansion""?? (FWIW, this parking garage will be about 3 blocks from the nearest point of the convention center.)

Nice... I wonder what flag would go in there? I hope to see all of those bare areas fill in with hotels and such.

Your guess is as good as anyone's; and I do mean anyone, including the county commissioners, the architects . . .

Hopefully something more on the affordable end of the spectrum. Wouldn't result in an eye-catching tower or anything but so long as it's not as awful looking as the Courtyard Marriott next door I'll be okay with that.

Surely it would be a brand not already represented downtown. And a brand that would work above a ~12-story parking garage.

Re: Downtown Dallas: Jackson at Market Parking Garage
With all those parking lots everywhere in that shot, it's a good thing someone built a big ass parking garage. Clearly there's an unmet need. haha
Re: Downtown Dallas: Jackson at Market Parking Garage
Hopefully, it looks better at ground level. From above, it's awful.
