Wow, i didn't think it was possible that they have actually improved the view of Fountain Place.

It does make Fountain Place look better ... in fact from this particular perspective it looks like Fountain Place's little brother with its sharp angular point.

Great picture. thanks for posting. I'm guessing that this is from the Sylvan ave overpass?? Such a great photo spot.

Thanks! Yes, that pic is from the Sylvan Ave bridge ... that spot is one of the best views of the sprawling city center of the Downtown Dallas corridor ... it is impossible to really capture the expansive view adequately in a picture from that vantage point because the urban core stretches across the landscape for such a long distance.

This image is courtesy of the Greater Dallas Airbnb Meetup group and was taken from Price Waterhouse Cooper's offices in Park District just across Woodall Rodgers Freeway (click on the image in Flickr to expand into a high res view). The AMLI Tower is really beginning to make a major statement on the skyline with its crown framework in place:

Pics are really nice!

I would really really like to see a handful of skyscrapers seed the Medical District, just to punctuate the skyline. Viewing the dozens of midrise buildings along I-35 trails off of the downtown skyscrapers, but a few 500' towers would add emphasis to every ~10 story building, putting more oomph into the view.

I agree.

Anyone else starting to get a bit concerned about the lack of visible progress recently? I've seen workers poking about here and there, and the crane moves sometimes, but I haven't seen progress on the crown for weeks. For example, in the middle part along the top there's still a gap in the frame where a beam hasn't been put in.

Is there an issue with finances? Has construction quality not been meeting standards? Maybe I'm just worrying too much, but it seems odd.

I've been wondering that myself. They were moving very quickly until they got to the crown of the building. I know they had to build a structure inside the crown, but all other work below it has halted. I wouldn't expect them to run into financial difficulties since AMLI is a large company, but you never know. The gap at the top is odd to say the least, but I'm not a construction expert. Perhaps someone else might know what is going on.

They are still making progress, glass is still being installed and I noticed on Friday that they appear to be installing brackets to hold glass on the crown. Interior work is moving along too.

I would imagine there will be a good amount of equipment that will need to be housed in the crown which would require it to remain open.

There does appear to be more exterior glass panes being added to the Eastern face of the crown, while little movement on the Western side. I did see some workers on site on 10.10.19. The new tower certainly complements Fountain Place.

More progress installing glass on the crown, can be seen right above the highest balcony on the south/west side.

It appears more progress has occurred in enclosing the crown with the reflective glass.

They are starting to place those pieces and that gap in the crown? That piece is sitting on the ground between the tower and the parking garage.

I feel like this building could use a good nickname, since calling it "The AMLI Fountain Place" is a bit awkward. I propose calling it "The Chisel."

I recently saw an older photo of the construction of Fountain Place Tower. There was a gap at the top of that tower as it was being completed as well. Perhaps this is part of the final construction of towers that come to a pinnacle like Fountain Place & AMLI Tower.

Pictures I took yesterday (10/26) It seems that they're struggling to install the glass on the mechanical levels; taking too long to do so.

Folks, there is a ton of mechanical equipment that has to go into the top of the building before they can close it up with glass. There is no "struggle" or delay.

Maybe its because yall are watching it every second...its like watching cookies in the oven they bake faster if you stop staring into the oven every second of the day. This thread has been like a dog staring at the floor waiting for their owners to drop food. The drool from waiting for the closing of the top of the building is very apparent.

Meanwhile, lots of interior work goes on as they are nearing the top floors, workers around the base of the garage finishing the exterior work there and lots of workers on the crown that appear to be doing a lot of welding.

Good Luck on that January leasing start. The top doesn't have to be finished to pre-lease but it's easy to look at the outside and assume it's done enough for even March move-ins.

It could very likely be a phased open. There's no way the lower floors aren't close to being completely outfitted and finished. They will release a few floors every month or two probably. Not that unusual, you even see Texas Doughnut complexes do it.

Speaking to the impact on the skyline, very noticeable coming in across I-30 from the west as the sculpted top starts to appear, will be a particularly stunning pair of towers.

They covered up all of the windows on the vacant retail space with some graphics....nothing big there but attached to the pillar under the overhang where they have some tables and chairs sitting around is a rendering of another tower that looks like it's situated to take up that vacant space between the garage and Ross. It's about 18-20 floors and looks like they are planning a hotel but that is just a guess.

I’ve seen that picture and thought it was a render of another building in the Arts District (which seemed strange to me). I’ll have to take a closer look on Monday!

"A future 20-story, 220 room boutique hotel"

This was where they were previously planning that 5(ish) story office building situated at the end of the parking garage. It was a cute building but I'm way more excited about a 20 story boutique hotel.

No wonder they abandoned the wedge at the end of the garage even after they pushed so hard initially on it. They decided to pursue a hotel tower sounds like they could be searching for a hotel flag though. Depending on how strong the hotel market in Dallas continues to be I wonder if it will remain an idea or become just another a rendering lost in Dallas history.
