30 years on, the AllianceTexas project north of Fort Worth runs rings around lost Saturn plant
Hard to believe that the Alliance area/development marks 30 years this year. At one point early on, supposedly Saturn (the now-former GM car brand) was considering that area for a plant. It passed, of course, but as it turns out, Alliance didn't do too bad, and is still growing and evolving.

North Fort Worth: Alliance
Re: North Fort Worth: Alliance
Twenty years ago, the big Japanese automakers had their US subsidiaries headquartered near the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles. Nissan, the most cost-sensitive, left Torrance for Franklin, TN, and then Toyota from Torrance to Plano. Before Alliance or Las Colinas succumb to the temptation to fill up with datacenter development that pays handsomely but does little to improve things to attract residents (as Northern Virginia is doing, even adjacent to the Silver Line transit extension) I hope they will succeed in getting Honda USA to relocate here out of Torrance as well.
