I thought this had been converted into a garage at one time. I never realized it was originally a parking garage!

Re: 711 Elm
Let's hope this gets restored and not torn down.
Re: 711 Elm
No kidding... I have always loved this building even though I have never set foot in it. I haven't checked out the new owners portfolio yet. What is their track record?

Re: 711 Elm
Had no idea this entire building was just a parking garage. It's a really nice looking building and fits in with the area well.
What are the chances this gets redeveloped, though? Seems like it would be tricky to re-purpose a parking garage into something new. Perhaps the new owner just wants to change up the ground floor retail, or perhaps they have plans to build something nearby and want the parking spaces?

A little more info...
"'The new owners are looking at it as a two-part strategy where they keep it as its operating use in terms of a parking garage, but they are also looking at ways to redevelop it and enhance the area of the West End,' Matthew Rosenfeld, a vice president at Weitzman, told CoStar News."

Re: 711 Elm
If someone would buy the church out and swallow up all those parking lots around both properties it could be a nice project. Antioch Church right there was a nice idea for a faith-based organization to be close to people who need their help etc but does nothing for contributing to fixing the West End stations problems. It needs some growth investment that will help fund improvements to its security.

601 Elm, one block from 711 Elm, is slated for re-development. I changed the name of this thread so it includes both since they are close to one another. Article on 601 Elm:

Here's a pic of both buildings on each side of the El Centro office building.
