So... there's only a few other malls in the country in the same league as NorthPark, and are these places making similar line up changes?

Considering the location, the inevitable completion of the second floor, availability of additional contiguous development, and at least one remaining very large, easily redeveloped corner of Park@NCX, the retail just at NPCtr could double! not including the hotel(s), condos and office space.

Anyway, is South Coast Plaza etc making the same adjustments?

Yes, where is the hotel? That should have been added long ago and is overdue.

RIMOWA at Northpark Center is now open.

"Since 1898, RIMOWA luggage has been accompanying people around the world. Whether traditional aluminum cases or light luggage made of the high-tech material polycarbonate, the RIMOWA design is unmistakable due to the groove structure of its case shells. An innovative approach and exceptional demands when it comes to quality is just one aspect that makes RIMOWA one of Europe's leading luggage manufacturers. Dieter Morszeck, CEO of RIMOWA, is leading the company rich in tradition in its third generation. Like his grandfather who founded the company, he places great importance on perfect craftsmanship and precise production. Just like his father who introduced aluminum to the production, he is committed to new developments and continuously expanding the product range. This will be the only RIMOWA in Texas."

I've always thought there should be a hotel/condos connected to Northpark, perfect for a shopping spree or a HP retired empty nester to do mall walking/shopping, every amenity that you could ever want right at your doorstep.

When Victor Gruen designed the first shopping mall in the 50's the original design incorporated neighborhoods where we now have parking lots.

He was very sad not to see this implementation. He envisioned this form of mixed use from the start and we are only now starting to understand.

It's funny how much my own shopping patterns have changed, once I know what size I need I just order online and skip the mall. Now I really don't care to go in if I can avoid it. When I am in there I still see lots of people but wonder if they have noticed a change.

I don't know there is something about shopping that can't really be replicated online... Personally i find online shopping very tiring -- but sometimes the convenience of it just can't be matched.

It will be interesting to see how this all changes over time. I would not be surprised to see tesla/apple store be the model for many kinds of products. The Manufacturer has a store front and may even show related products -- but the expectation is that you can buy from the store or from online at the same price.

Re: Northpark Center

I'm not much of an online shopper -- not much of a shopper in general -- but typically online purchases are less common replacement parts. So, admittedly ignorant of the online shopping environment, I would rather browse stores at a nice mall or Greenville Ave/Bishop Arts.

OMG, I went to Walmart for a few items last night with more than enough time to get home before the game, get a pizza on the way and I almost couldn't stand it!!! Not too busy with customers, but going between pet/garden center to grocery then to check out tested my patience. Even that terribly designed parking lot was harassing. Not messy but product clutter everywhere, oblivious shoppers *sigh* blocking the isle, and oddly long check-out lines. That's a totally sucky shopping experience that millions of people have settled into - I can understand online shopping because of it.

NorthPark sounds better than ever.

Of every shopping destination this one is still the favorite but I still wonder when they will start making some obvious changes like a luxury boutique hotel or the addition of attached office space. Maybe more entertainment type venues....I admit I don't know what that is.

Anyone have the scoop on NARS? It's on the map and the buildout is still up in the mall, but it's not listed in the who's coming section on the mall's website. Also, any scoop on who will take the place where Lush will be vacating? I imagine a current store within the mall will relocate there. Teavana? Origins? perhaps.

Stores I think after the massive 'shuffling' of the mall that have their days numbered...

Al's Formal Wear
Zales (Dallas Galleria has a store)
GNC (Dallas Galleria has a store)
T-Mobile (Opening Soon at the Galleria)
AT&T
Pac Sun (Recently Renovated at the Galleria)
Apex by Sunglasses Hut (Recently opened at the Galleria)

Tabot's was reported to be vacating in an article that first announced all of the shuffling, but it's still around. Maybe it's sticking around through 2017 and that's where some of the 2018 announcements will go? It just looks odd where it is now.

Other stores that just look odd where they are:

Lucky Brand
Pinto Ranch
Brookstone
Paper Source
Yumilicious/Candy Store
Gamestop
Texas Treasures
Lenscrafters
Visionworks

Also, Helen Ficalora and Bath & Body Works need to relocate within the mall or refresh their stores, they just look plain and/or outdated.

I'm shocked that GNC and Gamestop can still afford space at NorthPark. They must be grandfathered on that level somehow.

Probably. I'm not even sure a GNC / GameStop store is best suited at NP. As a customer If I wanted something from those stores I would NOT want to go into the mall. Such a inconvenience.

SHINOLA- Opening Spring 2017

"Shinola is founded in the belief that products should be well-made and built to last. Across a growing number of categories, Shinola stands for skill at scale, the preservation of craft, and the beauty of industry.

Of all the things we make, the return of manufacturing jobs might just be the thing we’re most proud of."

An odd choice since they already have stores in Downtown Plano and Dallas' Highland Park Village, unless they are getting booted from HP Village and wanted a new Dallas location.

I thought I remembered that they were temporary but they have stayed longer than a "pop-up" usually does so I figured they were permanent now. But no idea on the locations. Maybe the tory sport space once it moves to its permanent location ?

It does put it near Rockport and the Walking Company and across from Journey's. Sperry moved upstairs as well. I would think Tom's would be a good fit in that corridor as well, but we will have to wait and see where that's going.

I agree! I can never get enough of their products. I would say the Yumilicious space is too large.

Sugarfina boutiques I have been in before require very little space, so that is why I think it will go into the soon to be vacant Teavana.

or maybe the little restaurant space outside NM on the 2nd level when that taco place closed.

On another note, the new Lush store is awesome!

As for Tom's I don't think it's going into the previous Aveda space any longer. They took that off of the map and moved it to a 2018 opening. I'm thinking it will go upstairs, perhaps in that area where Clarks is moving to. GNC, Gamestop and Texas Treasures could be closing to make room for this. Let's see what happens....

Sugarfina is now listed with a Spring 2017 opening in the space between Papyrus & AG. (Previously where TOMS was announced to open, but must have been relocated elsewhere.)

VANS is listed with a relocation in Spring 2017 to the previous Pac-Sun space.

I knew something was up with Vans when Design Within Reach was set to go into the old American Apparel space. That space alone wouldn't have been large enough. Now it all makes sense.

I keep getting this gut feeling that Bath & Body Works will eventually move upstairs into a larger space and add it's White Barn Candle store. Perhaps in the old American Eagle spot.

Not surprising for Sephora, very popular store in the corner of the center. It would be interesting to see a 2 story Topshop/Topman open, but I think they are happy with just having a Houston location for now. I have seen no interest they wanted a Dallas Store.

It would be interesting to see what happens in the back corner and how many stores could be converted into a larger Design Within Reach.

Sugarfina is rumored to be opening before Valentine's Day, what a quick turn around that would be.

TGI Fridays used to be in the space behind what is now Zara, tucked away across from Green House Market.
Has been vacant for a while, I thought Zara might absorb it, but did not happen.
