Just up the street from all of this new construction, several buildings on Manufacturing Street have already been renovated and are being marketed as The Manufacturing District. The developer has done a good job of retaining the light industrial vibe. The new towers are exciting, but this project shows how many development opportunities the area has for simpler, less expensive renovation projects as well.

I like this renovation. But It's more of the same of what already exists in the Design District. This project is basically taking an older warehouse, renovating it and leasing the space for higher prices. This really happened a lot in the 2010's here ... I think the Design District should strive for more at this point. Bringing in Residential and NEW Office space/ retail is what I'd like to see more of. Retrofitting some of these warehouses as industrial style lofts would be cool....

Those look great! Love the designs. What is the status of these proposals? Are they just proposals? Moving forward? Pending building permits? Under construction?

Re: Design District 1.0
I'd be totally fine if that kind of *mixed infill crept along here and there within what we call the Design District. Even cooler if they keep most designs a little industrial-looking, wood and metal and so on. Not asking for steampunk, but, . . . And, for each one that pops-up here and there, perhaps three nearby apartment mid-rises per, as well.

Anyone know what the road work on riverfront is about? There's major things happening near 504 Riverfront. Is this a road diet?

Weird, guess the article is wrong. They said Design District, but this is clearly not the Design District.

It was possibly edited before Google could cache it. Still, kinda funny how many other news outlets called/copy/pasted that location as the "heart of the Dallas Arts District" as well. I mean, whatev. It's next door to a whole lot of instagrammable pink. Let them all have their cake.

The developer and partner Maryland-based FCP are building two Design District offices – the River Edge building near Irving Boulevard and the 1333 Oak Lawn tower.
Now another office development is in the works for a more than four-acre site Quadrant controls at 1715 Market Center Blvd., near Oak Lawn Avenue. The building site is close to the Trinity Strand Trail.
Along with Quadrant’s office project, construction is underway on a 27-story apartment tower on Hi Line Drive that’s a project of New Jersey-based developer Urby.

The Manufacturing District moniker for the western edge of the Design District (i.e. the three or four blocks between the Anatole and the levee) is still in press release use:

Stopped at Meteor last weekend, at the bottom of the Urby. I love that place.
I was told that all day Bistro will take Meteor's current build-out location which was initially built for another concept (Meteor stepped in last year when that other concept did not come through)
No fear though, Meteor will move next door with their intelligentsia coffee, baked goods and food offerings. It will also have more parking and will include the bike shop in the new digs next door.
This may not happen until July or August. I believe the new all day bistro may be Charlie's (sp.)
