I have forgotten the name of this development group, but there appears to be some movement on this project.

Is this taking over the TBD bar?

I would hope this only includes the lot next to TBD, I actually like the building there. Would be nice if they got rid of the Section 8 housing looking thing immediately on the corner of Hall and Oak Grove.
Re: Uptown Dallas: New Hotel at Hall and Oak Grove
Not taking over the TBD bar, it's the two parcels between Noble and Oak Grove on the Hall side. It's currently an abandoned small office building and an abandoned single family residence with a detached garage with either an office or a lot of storage.

This is a great location for good views of DT Dallas if the building is positioned correctly. Within 2 blocks of the Dream Hotel proposal. If the Dream Hotel doesn't get moving, it could be too late for them with this one and the hotel in WV just 3 blocks north on Oak Grove.
Re: Uptown Dallas: New Hotel at Hall and Oak Grove
I wonder how tall...
Uptown needs more hotels in the northern section.

Re: Uptown Dallas: New Hotel at Hall and Oak Grove
Walked by this the weekend, it's a different property on the other side of Noble from where the property owned by a hotel group. It's where the Italian restaurant that burned down like a decade ago was.
Since one small bank if financing the construction I'm guessing it is going to be a low-rise retail space.

Re: Uptown Dallas: New Hotel at Hall and Oak Grove
This unrelated to this particular property, but I went by Breadwinners the other day and noticed their patio was larger. I was only half paying attention at the time, but I'm pretty sure there was some streetwork done here and the parking spaces in front of Breadwinners and quarter bar were changed to be parallel to the street.
I could be imagining things though, because I checked google streetview and, as of August 2016, the street still looked the same.
Sorry for the off topic post, this just didn't seem like it was worth starting a new topic for, and it also takes place across the street from this proposed hotel.

You're correct. They got rid of the head in parking here and next door, expanded the "sidewalk" to make patio seating areas bigger. Currently, parallel parking only. Not sure those spaces can remain once McKinney becomes two-way in the future.

Knox, Oak Lawn and Cedar Springs need their head-in parking converted as well. It's a traffic hazard and simply ugly.

I have pushed for this on Cedar Springs and there is still some straight-in parking in front of Hunky's and angled in front of RoundUp. I will always say until they add a dedicated left turn lane on Cedar Springs things are going to backup and functionally be really inefficient for the parking and the high speed cars racing past the strip. The bars fight it every time cause they think two travel lanes is better despite the volumes of studies that prove the other is better at moving traffic.

Businesses are also worried about deliveries blocking traffic. Both sides of the strip have big parking lots right behind the retail. The trucks can't pull in there and deliver the items from the back?

Re: Uptown Dallas: New Hotel at Hall and Oak Grove
Those things can be accommodated through design. Caven already has 18 wheelers pull into their parking lots behind their properties to make deliveries in the early Monday morning. I doubt that the city planners/engineers can not design around the problem. Rejecting the sheer concept without working on the details is what got us the point where are now with many of our neighborhoods. They keep rejecting any concept of change while ignoring that every city in the US doesn't have deliveries that need to be made in an active retail and entertainment district where the problem hasn't already been solved.
Back to the hotel discussion in process.

I agree now that this is not the hotel site or project. We should soon know what it is. A rent-a-fence is now erected around the lot but there no new signage showing what is coming.

Looks like they are building a condo building on that lot. Be interesting to see how tall it is. Crescent Collections has the address on their "Coming Soon" page for condos: http://crescentcollections.com/lifestyl ... se/condos/
Re: Uptown Dallas: New Hotel at Hall and Oak Grove
The corner of Hall and McKinney is just begging for a redevelopment. The old TBD building, Uptown Apt Locators, Antique store and surface parking lot should be combined into one lot and build a great development!

Knox will have angled parking by the end of 2018. https://dallascompletestreets.wordpress ... s-project/

A small front end loader was delivered today and at 4:00 seversl workers were on site.

Flyswatter's link now has a rendering of 2934 N Hall condo infill. It has six floors.

Re: Uptown Dallas: New Hotel at Hall and Oak Grove
So, is the 6-story (5 over 1) 2934 N. Hall project a single-owner live/work project candidate? It states a good-sized price tag for what seems to be to buy the whole thing. If so, interesting and similar to the shorter Sugar Films building.
Re: Uptown Dallas: New Hotel at Hall and Oak Grove
I think the site just states the overall cost of the project. I imagine it is multi-unit.
Re: Uptown Dallas: New Hotel at Hall and Oak Grove
I'm confused is this the site that was supposed to have the hotel listed in the headline or is this something else tacked onto this thread?
Re: Uptown Dallas: New Hotel at Hall and Oak Grove
We are talking about multiple plots, 2934 is where that Italian restaurant that burned down around a decade ago was at Nobel and Hall. The property at the corner of Oak Grove and Hall is owned by some entity named "Oak Grove Hotel Group" which is what the hotel speculation is about.

Not sure either. This is a small lot behind the neighborhood Walmart @ hall and 75. Facing Hall, probably a small retailer?
Re: Uptown Dallas: New Hotel at Hall and Oak Grove
Almost certain it is the construction office for those apartments down the street on Hall at Howell.

That's going to be a hotel?

They are condos that are being built painfully slow. Topic thread should be renamed.
