Does anyone have any construction updates on this?

At last check, it's at about 3-4 floors. Well underway.

This page on Hilton's site says late next year before it is done and open. According to the listing, the address will face Cityplace West (not Noble, Oak Grove, or Blackburn).

There are a few on this locations list, but only one Canopy is open so far--in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Is it just me or is this rising at a glacial pace?

It looks slow but based on that picture they are just getting to regular floor plates so would it not pick up once they get they get to that point?

I suppose the speed is somewhat ok for this project, however, events like yesterday do not help the cause:

Has a name been announced for the residential tower, yet? I recently looked into some boring Forest City investors' *.pdf files and the whole project is just generically dubbed 'West Village II' on one file dated Sep 2016.

I love the presence of this development when you're entering West Village. It's going to be so much better when it's done.

Pretty amazing that with all the development and density in this area and our point in the cycle, that the grocery store site just sits idle. Huge potential exists there.

That in addition to the CVS and the gas station next to Land and Cattle.

I suspect movement in East Dallas will allow many of the larger plots of redevelopable Uptown to simmer for a while longer. We may even see parcels like the grocery store 'simmer' even longer as perfectly good 30 years housing blocks are redeveloped like Gables Turtle Creek.

The smaller Uptown parcels, those which cannot or will not be consolidated, will completely fill up will expensive construction intended to last 100 years or more... the big deals will come, and will be larger than before though the street level presence will seem quaint.

The late night party scene will not seem to overwhelm McKinney Avenue because there will be so much more stuff going on.

I didn't see a general West Village thread so I'll just post this info here.... 1) Looks like someone has leased some retail space in the Richards Group building. Some permits are on the window and drywall is going up. 2) It looks like Tommy Bahama closed it's WV location. Unless they're just remodeling the store, but the signs are down.

Makes sense for the area and at least it's not another restaurant. I love eating out as anyone but there is a "high end" restaurant apocalypse coming. The mom and pops don't tend to be welcome in these newer spaces which can be stable businesses that do more affordable things in some cases.

Keeping on that same note, Barry's Boot Camp will be taking the space once occupied by Pop's Diner...

Can anyone even remember when the lot where Alara is was grass and across the street was a driving range? If I had not seen it for myself and someone told me that, I wouldn't believe them. lol

Looks like Nazca closed. There were locks on the doors two weeks ago and the other day I saw what looked like an info center for the new Canopy

It did sometime around the first of the month, and I awkwardly walked in for lunch at the very moment they decided they had served their last customer. Wish they could've hung on until the Hilton Canopy and new apartment tower opened.

Wow quite a beahmoth, excited to see the foot traffic the hotel will create when out of town visitors begin trickling in to the West End on a regular basis.

Don't know if the pictures do it justice, but the highly reflective glass on the building really make it stand out from all the buildings around it. It's quite a different look in West Village.

Wandered over here this weekend. Canopy is coming along. Looks like a restaurant space on the corner going in. Lobby bar installed. Lobby furniture being delivered.

A ceiling arch extends inside parallel to Cityplace West made of old red brick. At the east end of the lobby is what appears to be the sliced off front end of a MATA trolley mounted to the wall (complete with “Ride Free” signage). This looks good, ties in the immediate neighborhood and is quite unexpected in such a modern, sleek exterior.

This addition will add lots more street life to the eastern west village when completed.
