What a nice looking building!

I very much like how it continues Whole Foods' street presence. ← Scratch that, I just noticed that 50% of the building's frontage is driveway. That's a mistake. That should have occurred on the side streets, not McKinney Ave. Otherwise it's a nice building. lol

Looks good. Really sucks that McKinney Ave facade isn’t more pedestrian friendly. Of course with the bars and restaurants demolished in this two-block area to make room for these towers, maybe not so many peds to worry about?? Doesn’t this plot have frontage on both side streets?

Surprised there aren’t more setbacks required by the low-rise resi immediately East. Wasn’t Whole Foods building required to put those townhome style units to both camouflage the parking and too blend in better with the surroundings? Lot of effort to make that happen, then across the street, straight up a sheer glass wall.

This thread was started in 2016. Seven years of nothing, git ‘er done already.

There's some fencing up at the parking lot of the old Jake's Hamburgers/Den buildings. Are they planning to start this residential tower soon?

Oddly, along with the fencing, there's a "for lease" sign which I'm pretty sure is new.

Yep. I just now noticed that I've been posting both projects on this thread. Sorry, about that y'all. I can see how that is confusing.

The office building is going in next to Whole Foods and the mixed-use tower is going in next to that.

Looks like it does have a projecting horizontal shade over a recessed pedestrian arcade, doesn't it? That's a lot more than the (fortunately) scrapped publicly-tax-incentivized CBRE hq tower was going to offer McKinney Avenue.

Also: mods please change title from 18 to 21 st.

Oh I see, I was thinking of the renderings of 2626 M, the office building, instead. But FWIW the new 2614 rendering seems to have a similarly elevated pedestrian canopy projecting from the glass.

Because of everything here maybe the thread title should go ahead and combine both unrelated towers too.

I think this one is dead! They’ve removed this project from their website and it’s listed on the Q1 2023 report of new construction and planned multifamily projects tho

I guess we can only hope for 2626 McKinney to start. They have a website up now https://www.2626mckinney.com/

You'd think they'd include the trolleys in the renderings to show something unique to that building location.

Also, the residential building proposed across Boll from the office tower should have started by now, so I agree that it may be dead, but what a waste of a great location now just sitting to rot.

Suggestions on how to fix probably the messiest thread ever? Haha.
We have a project proposal on both the 2600 and 2700 blocks of McKinney all through this thread and they both have Boll as a cross street. Leave them here and change the title to talk about both? Or, leave one here and somehow try to sift posts and move to another thread related to that address. . .

Either way, so much info has changed since all was originally posted.

2614 McKinney, most recently One Sette and formerly Idle Rich, has been demolished. A previous DMN piece mentioned this would kick off in October; I am not sure if that is still the case, but the timeline appears to line up.

This is not(!!!) the same block as Jake’s, The Den, etc.

I wonder when the small brick office bldg will go (also waiting on the Den demo one block up).

The apt bldg lot where Jake’s was is now all fenced off. I hope the Den bldg is demoed this round and we see action on the site. It just looks so rough as it is now.

This building has been torn down. Hopefully the apt building starts going up soon!

There is a leasing sign on-site, so maybe this baby is on hold.

The lot where Jake's used to be. Couple of rigs unloading some heavy machinery. Feb 21 around 1pm.
