It's going to age badly. I for see this will undergo a new facade whenever the new architectural trend comes around in the next ten or fifteen years.

I agree that the blue tile will not age well. But it's only tile, and they can put up a new facade relatively inexpensively in the future.

Precisely. By then the tile will be "vintage" and "old-school," so it'll be "cool."

Isn't this same thinking why we lost so many historic gems in the past, sure now it's ugly but think what it would represent in the future.

I'm not too worried about that. Right now, I think it's a refreshing looking building that adds some variety to Downtown.

Even if it doesn't age well, it's only one building and it's relatively small, so I don't see what the big deal is. It's far more interesting than a lot of the cookie-cutter stuff that has been going up lately.

Butcher shop in the basement, boulangerie on the ground floor. They will sell to the public and supply CBD and the Joule. Upper floors I heard will be Headington office space but that rumor is less reliable.

Last opening date info I heard was 10/19.

Commissary, the bakery and butcher shop from Joule Dallas hotel owner Tim Headington, will open on November 6, and will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The renovation marks 1217 Main Street as a new architectural landmark in downtown Dallas. 5G itself will move its international corporate headquarters into the building this fall, along with local creative firm, Swoon, The Studio.

Stopped by Commissary on Friday for lunch. The place was packed! The food was amazing as well. If you're hungry for an incredible French Dip or Porchetta sandwich, look no further.

Commissary is a wonderful addition to downtown. Their house made bagels are a perfect breakfast. I'm so glad to have this within walking distance of my office, and soon I will be living nearby again!

Now that this is done and is a knockout success, I hope Headington has something else in the pipeline for Main Street. Wasn’t there talk of a residential tower where the eyeball is? Or how about a redo of the legal aid building? Close enough to Main Street—please take over the renovation of the Drever!

Great addition. My only complaint is that they used the light color pattern as the exterior as the floor design. The floors get noticeably dirty very quickly during the lunch hour. Other than that A++!

I stopped by today at around 2pm and the place had a constant line and most of the seats were constantly full. The place is more fast-casual, so people weren't staying for too long, but, even so, the place was constantly busy while I was there.

The sandwich I had wasn't cheap ($9), but it was fantastic, and well worth it. I picked up some dessert to go to, which I haven't had a chance to try. What a fantastic addition to Downtown, and, now that construction has completed, it adds a decent amount of activity to already lively part of Downtown.

I'll probably be going back again this Friday with some friends from out of town.

Went this weekend. Awesome place. Good food and 90 minutes free parking in lot across the building!
