Corporate dorms. Corporate plantation. You choose your euphemism.willyk wrote:Still planned to be workforce housing? What does that translate into in terms of being more affordable?
How about neither, because they both sound ridiculously pompous?Corporate dorms. Corporate plantation. You choose your euphemism.
Part of the new apartment project will be funded with low-income housing tax credits from the state of Texas.
"We expect to close with our tax credit investor and financing and provide the notice to proceed to our general contractor in early to mid-April," developer Jack Matthews said in an email. "There will be 18 months of construction to get our first units occupied in fourth-quarter 2020."
Well, let's see. Poorly constructed buildings. Overpriced, even when subsidized by taxpayers. Pompous would be the names of some of these poorly made buildings with their cheap and terrible looking architecture. If it's not stucco, it's got to be generic glass!The_Overdog wrote:How about neither, because they both sound ridiculously pompous?Corporate dorms. Corporate plantation. You choose your euphemism.
It's 51% affordable units, where affordable equals earning 30-60 percent of Dallas’ median household income.
Feel free to criticize the architecture and the build quality and the names (wishing the Chole had not a mis-print), but the names you gave implicated the renters, not the architecture.Pompous would be the names of some of these poorly made buildings with their cheap and terrible looking architecture. It implicated the renters? That's not the context. It's about the quality of the building and an implication to the developers.The_Overdog wrote:Feel free to criticize the architecture and the build quality and the names (wishing the Chole had not a mis-print), but the names you gave implicated the renters, not the architecture.Pompous would be the names of some of these poorly made buildings with their cheap and terrible looking architecture. Hahaha. I actually like that... SoGood is SoCringe. I can't believe they want to go through with obnoxious, try-hard name.Hannibal Lecter wrote:^ Since they're developing a SoGood to the south, it's pretty obvious this area should be NoGood.

Agreed, really want to see what this thing looks like once the facade starts going up.THRILLHO wrote:Thanks for the pics kingpin. I'm excited to see this when the scaffolding comes down.
Seems like the need for affordable housing in Dallas has only increased with the run-up in home prices. I think this building will do very well. How about one or two more on the adjacent parking lot?Tivo_Kenevil wrote:This building is great addition. I never thought the lot it's on would be developed. It's such an odd place. Now if that parking lot for the high school could be reimagined as something else....
It looks great. coulda fooled me and told me this was in Europe.maconahey wrote:

Thank the gods, I thought I was the only one! Thing looks like some kind of prison from the mind of Tim Burton. I can't tell if those lower floors in front/left are done or if that is scaffolding.Addison wrote:I guess it's true what they say. They're not done in that section yet.skeets wrote: I can't tell if those lower floors in front/left are done or if that is scaffolding.
Could a garage floorplate be that see-through?CTroyMathis wrote:They're not done in that section yet.skeets wrote: I can't tell if those lower floors in front/left are done or if that is scaffolding.
