Galveston partners with Royal Caribbean on new $85 million cruise ship terminal
This will be Galveston's third cruise-ship dock facility. It is projected to open in 3 years. Carnival and Disney Cruises already sail from Galveston. The article reports traffic is up 15% there over last year's cruise bookings. Galveston is reportedly the U.S.'s fourth busiest port for cruise originations.

Re: New Royal Caribbean terminal coming to Galveston
Sweet.
The more tourist pulling deals like that coming to Galveston increase the viability of an HSR extension. Just like Fort Worth, though, I think a Galveston HSR Station would need the boost from the San Antonio-Austin leg of the triangle to generate enough foot traffic.
Galveston has the island life advantage over Corpus Christi, but Corpus has more appealing beaches.
