Downtown San Antonio is getting its first new tower in 30 years.

And two Dallas companies are behind the deal.

KDC, the commercial builder developing Toyota's new headquarters in Plano and State Farm Insurance's Richardson campus, is building the 23-story Frost Tower.

I think a more accurate description is first "office" tower in 30 years since the Grand Hyatt was completed in the past 10 and it is near 30 floors.

The elevator core is rising now:

Counting rooftop antennae it will be the tenth tallest building in South Texas.
SA - Tower of the Americas - 729'
SA - Marriott RiverCenter - 546'
SA - Tower Life - 504'
SA - Weston Centre - 444'
CC - Shoreline Plaza South - 442'
SA - Grand Hyatt - 424'
SPI - Sapphire - 403'
CC - Wilson Plaza West - 388' per FAA
SA - Bank of America Plaza - 387'
SA - Frost Bank Tower - 386'

Would have been more interesting had they resurrected the Horizon Hill Center project from 1984:
