Supporters intend to have the initial phases of the 5 Mile Creek Greenbelt underway in 2020.

So the creek is actually called '5 Mile Creek', so they aren't literally referring to 5 miles of creek. I had never heard of this creek before, and this plan seems super ambitious, but it's still cool to see people who want to improve this part of town.

It needs a 3 mile island...

This is a great looking plan. We need more of this throughout the entire area.
Question: I didn't see it mentioned in the presentation... But, is the main trail here the same one from the Veloweb plan?

I only see a small portion of Five Mile Creek regularly when I take the dogs to Pecan Grove Park, but it always strikes me as a massive source of untapped potential.

Oak Cliff has so much nature to explore but, with the exception of Oak Cliff Nature Preserve or Twelve Hills Nature Center, very little access to it. I look forward to this and the Chalk Hill Trail project, which should be open soon.

I'm not as familiar with the Oak Cliff area, but that's how I feel about the area as well. It's only a matter of time before more people start discovering what a gem this area is, and, on top of the nature, it's also relatively close in proximity to Downtown and houses are not expensive either (until you get close to Bishop Arts).

Focus Areas C, F and G are contaminated from the Lane Plating Superfund Site. It will be at least a decade before cleanups can happen with the EPA and their project partners for remediation. At least a decade. I was at the last EPA Superfund meeting at Highland Hills and it will be a very long time before they even start the process of testing. The area is highly contaminated with hexavalent chromium, cyanide and arsenic. The chemicals are in the aquifer and are leaching out into the creeks. Stay away!
