Chalk Hill Trail

Postby lakewoodhobo » 09 Oct 2018 10:18

Scott Griggs posted an update on this project. I believe it's a Dallas County initiative so it's been missing from the city trails discussion, but when completed it'll connect the Westmoreland DART station to the Canyon development in Oak Cliff through some very heavily wooded areas that look pretty impressive on Google Maps.

Pet CM Griggs:

The trail is currently funded from Westmoreland Road to Chalk Hill Road. The project is being designed and is at the 60% level of design.

Dallas County plans should be ready to be put out to bid by December 2018. Dallas County expects that the project should be awarded by February 2019 (after approval by Dallas City Council and Dallas County Commissioners Court).

IINM, most of this is an old rail spur that went to one of the long-time cement plants that used to be in the area that's now Pinnacle Park.

This looks like it has potential, I wish Dallas were further ahead on trails in the city, especially the connections needed to link things together.
