Big Cedar Wilderness May Become a Dallas City Park

The tract is south of I-20 and off of Mountain Creek Pkwy. on 282 acres. It is largely unimproved other than what a local mountain biking club has done to lay trails.

This would be a great "save" since so much of this land is zoned for residential, not that anybody is itching to build on it anytime soon but this would at least take that option off the table. Wish the same could be done on the other side of I-20 where that 400 acre plot just sold to a developer.

All the large areas of open acreage like this in South Dallas should be put into nature reserve status.

Apparently DORBA did a lot of things on that property and illegally trespassing on adjacent properties that have angered area homeowners. Looks like the City of Dallas is taking them to court over it. This will take a lot of work to fix trees cut down, bad design of trails and dangerous bridges.
