So first Iberia and now Finnair. Perhaps Cathay Pacific is next?

I wouldn't count on Cathay given all the HK drama and Covid. I wish though! Other news is BA is bringing the whale to DFW starting in March. I hope Qantas brings theirs back soon too.

DFW Airport is giving its biggest, busiest terminal a total makeover

Terminal C pre-construction has started, with main construction work underway by 2024. The $2 billion project is set to be complete in 2026.

I wonder if DFW is already thinking about Metroplex air taxi service. Would be a 'terminal' built adjacent to the rental car area?

IDK. I really haven't heard anything since that plan Uber had for a minute. I would think there would have to be special arrangements/plans with the FAA before anything like that could think of getting off the ground (so to speak ;) )

FAA put 5G buffer around Dallas Love Field, DFW Airport. What that means for smartphone users
The FAA and the wireless industry agreed to restrict some 5G service around airports for the next six months while the two sides study whether the technology interferes with critical flight instruments.

https://www.dallasnews.com/business/air ... one-users/

The mobile phone industry’s major players have agreed to limit 5G phone service around DFW International Airport, Dallas Love Field and 48 other airports nationwide as the aviation and telecommunications industry debate over implementing faster wireless service versus aircraft safety.

That will prevent major cell phone providers AT&T and Verizon from building 5G base stations using the contested C-band spectrum too close to the two North Texas urban airports with hundreds of nearby residents and businesses.

Finnair delays first flights from DFW to Helsinki amid staff shortages from COVID-19 and flu
The airline was set to take off on its first DFW to Helsinki flight in early February, but that will have to wait until after the spring break holiday.

Air France is returning to DFW; they stopped flying here 2 years ago when the pandemic started. They will fly 777s 5 days a week to Paris-Charles de Gaulle, with service starting March 27.

The parent of Frontier Airlines is acquiring Spirit Airlines; both carriers serve DFW. Once the deal is complete, the merged carrier will be the fifth largest in the US.

Qantas is launching DFW-Melbourne service starting in December. It will fly 4 times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday), with afternoon departures and early morning arrivals. It will be one of the world's longest flights (8992 miles). Qantas will use Boeing 787 jets for these flights--not Airbus A380 planes like what has been used for their DFW-Sydney flights.

The article goes on to say that apparently Qantas is reducing their A380 fleet, and will now use 787 jets for their DFW-Sydney flights.

Originally Qantas planned to uses 787s on the SYD-DFW route, but when that plane was delayed they used 747s and A380s as a temporary replacement -- only to find that not only were the larger planes filling up, but that they needed to add even more flights each week. This route has been a gold mine for them.

Interestingly, when Qantas started flying SYD-DFW it was the longest scheduled route in the world. Now, with the introduction of DFW-MEL, it's down to around #10.

Not a passenger route, but Cathay Pacific will be starting flights from Hong Kong using their A350-900 as "preighters". Shame it's not passenger service, but China/Hong Kong's COVID policy makes that hard to see till they update their restrictions.

Nice. When is the construction on the rest of Terminal C supposed to start?
