Trinity Metro (FWTA 'The T')

I figured since I want to talk about a name change, there should be an overall bus system thread for FWTA. I don't have much to add regarding the bus system at the moment, however, I did want to note that FWTA voted yesterday for a re-branding of their services.

I am not clear if the new name, Trinity Metro, just replaces the name The T. Or, if it replaces everything including the name Fort Worth Transportation Authority. I'll go ahead and guess the former (The T). But, there you have it. Trinity Metro, it seems, is what it will be dubbed moving forward in the near future.

Fort Worth's transit has changed names, and has a new logo also. Spokespeople for the transit system try (in vain?) to explain the reason for the logo and the name change.

The explanation for why the name change is easy, the old name wasn’t popular nor did it have a good appeal mainly because the service was so bad. Hence, the need to change it’s name.
Too bad they haven’t figured out how to improve the service first because now the new name will be considered by the masses just as poorly as the last.
Coca-Cola and Dr. Pepper have huge followers not because of their names’s populatity as much as the popularity of their products. ;)
In my opinion a great sign that a company or corporation is on the rocks economically, about to merge with another, or about to fail is changing it’s name.

But The T is not a corporation or company. They are a public service. They're not going anywhere. Just continuing to suck.

Trinity Metro is the same age (40) as DART this year. For all of November, any ride within Tarrant County (buses, TexRail, Trinity Metro rideshares, TRE (between CenterPort station and T&P station only), etc.) will be *free*.
