Thanks, Troy.
So great to have the forum back! I'm giddy about that.
Not going to take it for granted.

Really would like the Belo Mansion to become a museum. Surely the lawyers are ready to take up an Uptown location and donate the building for a Modern Art Museum.

Yes, the mansion would be a cool space for a smaller museum. Great pics.

I miss the "Walking to the Sky" sculpture at the Nasher. It was so rumored to come back, but still hasn't.

You and I need to talk about THE ARCHIVES. Please, seriously, DM me or message in the Discord (I'm always watching there lol). Pretty sure you joined at some point (could be wrong). If not, you should join regardless. :)

A couple of somewhat recent panoramas (very compressed to save space/load faster, full-res on Discord). Rest of y'all gotta get this thread active again. Post your photos of/around the city!

Dude, how high does your drone go?

The correct question is how high legally is it allowed to go...

Ha, these things can go up thousands of feet, although that's never gonna happen anywhere in the US.
cowboyeagle05 wrote:The correct question is how high legally is it allowed to go...

The general limit is 400 feet, but that can be higher or lower in certain circumstances. I'm licensed, so with FAA LAANC authorization, I can go higher in certain circumstances and fly at night. One of the best things about being Part 107 certified is the fact that if you're within 400 feet of a structure, you can go an additional 400 feet above that structure... So theoretically, one could hit 1321 feet if you're right above BoA Plaza... Not actually sure if you're able to (legally), but most I'd ever push it to would be the top of the tower.
Been seeing way too many people fly their drones way too high as of late, especially those who aren't licensed. They're gonna screw it up for all of us, so better enjoy these images while we can (because the FAA will come down hard on everyone and lock things down even further.

At least until the FAA can successfully try to force program limits on commercially available drones legally. Software with the right sensors could restrict things to a point, which I assumed was already being done to make things self-policing via software. There will always be those who want to try to remove those software limits, but I don't doubt eventually, some incidents will cause an instant lockdown and higher criminal prosecution for those choosing to "break the law." Also, will we need new enforcement methods when more people have access to flying devices?

With the lens I had on me I just barely was able to get the Urby buildings into this skyline view

Nice shots, Dallas really needs a new supertall. Nothing outrageous but that far side of the skyline is completely unchanged in decades.

If something could materialize on the NewPark site behind city hall it would put a tower just next to BOA Plaza here which would be great.

Would be great fun to see what that would look like if Newpark were built out to it's full potential. In that scenario, absolutely.
