Back before the turn of the century, I used to browse NM at fashion island on my lunch break. I loved that mall! Bought a couple suits at Nordstrom the same day KC and the Sunshine band gave a free concert. Hahaha

How much business does the North Park Nordstrom do? Is it in line with the NM, Macy's and Dillard's as top preforming stores in the chains?

Maybe the mall add department stores, instead of replacing Dillard's.... Add a second floor between NM and Dillard's, and between Dillard's and Macy's, each addition is another department store.

It does seem like one of the 'plazas' downtown would benefit from the interesting environment of a bookstore, and would find a way to help on open and stay in operation. Or, maybe the city library could branch out into one of the parks with a cafe and reading room setup.

That being said, DFW has all the room, and expressed interest in terminals dedicated to transfer/connecting flights, and that would be an ideal setting for Southwest. If the higher end housing stock keeps growing in uptown, west village and Knox, I suppose it's inevitable we'll see more higher end retail in the area....

All these plaza redevelopments really underscore the importance of the city parks. The combinations should dramatically improve quality of life for CBD residents.

I wouldn't mind seeing UNT make a shift, put more resources into building up the satellite campuses to become the technology and medicine research facilities pushing the system to tier one prominence, allowing the Denton campus to increase creative education, music, art, video...

Noticeably tall or not, the most recent generation of growth to the downtown Dallas skyline certainly needs a skyscraper that is uniquely recognizable as 'Dallas'. So silly!!! The only logical place for a park overlook is in the south side of the levee. Oak Cliff is just about the best part of Dallas, but it's skyline is not a good backdrop. The northern levee-side developments need complete and total access to the park, but a overlook with rooftop dining only...
