Maybe they're hoping that deferred maintenance on the Legacy of Love monument will cause it to topple over. Then it can be replaced with something that's not a poorly-designed phallic eyesore.

The slowest 4 story project of all-time so true, this project has looked the same at street level for so long. Really glad to see those pics from the top though, now i can see what they've been doing all these years. The cinderblock structure went up very quickly over the last month or so. Most of ...

Aside from the pictures posted earlier in this thread of work done on their deck, there still isn't any evidence that anything is going on inside the building besides posting concept art to Facebook. It's been almost a year since 1401 Elm has been owned by Drever. Rebar still hangs off the building...

They have removed the roof and most of the support beams. Curiously, the weird four-piece podium thing and most of the glass is intact. I can't tell what their plans are for this, but it has been interesting to watch.

There are valet areas planned for the Chase plaza redo and the ATT Discovery District as well. While I also roll my eyes a bit at traditional valets, I think this wave is different. There is absolutely nothing wrong with stucco in general. It can be lovely when it is applied correctly and fits the design of a building. There are plenty of lovely, well-designed homes in Highland Park that make good use of stucco. The "stucco" everyone is right (in my opinion) to hate i...

I remain really ambivalent about this project, it has a fortress like quality that I don't think translates to rental, at least without a street life component that kind of justifies the compound feeling like say the Ritz.
