One thing that I've noticed is just how many projects have been announced, renderings released, (in some instances) fences put up, etc. but no dirt has been moved. Not entirely sure what to make of it, aside my from impatience.

Yea that's shocking, especially given they're charging some of the highest rents in the market and the area is still underdeveloped for residents (i.e., next to North End, empty lots, etc.). With those numbers, how are we not seeing residential towers breaking ground in adjacent lots right now?

Probably a toss up. Construction can bring a lot of headache - especially for retail - but increased development will up this area's sex appeal. Whichever the case, a Central Market at the spot will be a boon to that specific stretch of Uptown and should really help link it to West Village (plus provide a ton of foot (and vehicle) traffic). Still pissed that CVS got built though...

The boutique hotel should help a little (more so than the handful of lux residences I'd think), but we'll have to wait for the Atelier to start filling up to bring a bunch more bodies down there on a regular basis. Followed by the JW Marriott which should have a much bigger impact than the Hall hotel.

Did they say what was taking so long? Obviously we're all impatient about any construction but this one does seem to be taking a bit longer than normal. My guess is it has to do with the intricacies of planning a very different type of store for CM than their other locations.
