Re: Dallas Bike Share: VBikes, Spin, LimeBike
Agreed. We've thought about requiring their participation in providing bike parking. Also, the 311 system is being updated to include a way to report issues related to bike share. Comments/complaints can be logged and sent directly to the specific bike share company. The bike companies are listed by...

Re: Dallas Bike Share: VBikes, Spin, LimeBike
The City is already exploring various parking strategies to manage the bikes in the right-of-way. Ideas include saturating the service area with bike racks, bike corrals in high destination areas, etc. Downtown Dallas Inc. has pledged to install over 100 racks in the downtown area. The City is looki...

Re: Southeast Asian Museum
I don't have the specifics on that, but the idea is that if DART is disturbing that corridor they should improve the bike/ped connectivity along that route.

That very thing is being looked at for both entry/exit points into downtown as part of the D2 planning process.

Re: Downtown Dallas: The Drever
The BF has an excellent view of the goings on at the Drever. Crews have been removing the marble tiles from the base of the tower, and it appears they are at least partially dismantling the one story structure. Crews spent the better part of the past few days removing the concrete (or whatever it wa...

Re: Harwood Int'l District: Bleu Ciel (390 FT / 33 ST)
That is being looked at quite extensively. There are a number of opportunities with that link, and several obstacles that will have to be addressed. Its doable, but ultimately it will come down to funding to make it happen. On that note, NCTCOG selected a project for funding that would effectively c...

Re: Harwood Int'l District: Bleu Ciel (390 FT / 33 ST)
The connection to the Katy Trail from the north end of Harwood St. has not yet been installed, but it is still the plan to do so. The City is working with Harwood International on the mechanics of getting the connection built. I don't have an estimated timeline other than ASAP.

Re: Dallas Trail System
Not to totally "out" myself, but I've been heavily involved in Dallas' bike/trail program for about 17 years, so if y'all have any questions I'll do my best to answer them.

Re: Dallas Trail System
McCommas is the long-term solution. If you look at the cross-section for McCommas you will notice the sidewalk is extra wide on the north side. TxDOT built the bridge this way knowing the trail was going to use the bridge as a future crossing. Of course anything is possible, but I have not heard any...

Re: Dallas Trail System
Design is nearing completion for the Northaven Trail's westward extension. The trail will technically end at Monroe, north of Walnut Hill, however sidewalk improvements will complete the connection to the Walnut Hill/Denton DART Station. The project is tentatively scheduled to be bid later this year...

Re: Dallas Trail System
I've been heavily involved with this project, so here is how the bike lanes are going to work on Lamar/Continental. Beginning from the Continental Bridge and heading east toward Victory, a buffered bike lane will begin near Core street. That bike lane will continue to Riverfront where cyclists will ...

Re: Uptown Dallas: Dream Hotel
I do not work in the development side, I primarily review plats to see how they impact projects I am involved with. Someone with more experience with the development process may want to chime in. I am over simplifying this but a plat basically is a legal description of a particular piece of property...

Re: Uptown Dallas: Dream Hotel
A plat request for this property is being circulated, and came across my desk. Perhaps we will start seeing some movement on this project soon.

Re: Thanksgiving Tower Curb Relocation
The City approved a Thoroughfare Plan amendment in 2015 to reduce Elm from five lanes to four. What you are seeing is the first in a series of modifications that reallocate the northside travel lane to other uses such as wider sidewalks, indented parallel parking, etc. The Drever and Tower Petroleum...
