^ Sad news. The tenant, Art Company, is a great small live music venue with both indoor and outdoor stages and a great outdoor area. It's like something you would expect to find in Austin.
It will be missed.

The building was constructed in the late 40s/early 50s as the HQ for Employer's insurance. The architect was none other than the great George Dahl. It received a major facelift in the 1980s, which IIRC won some architectural awards.

If you want to throw up in your mouth go look what Federales did at the corner of Malcolm X and Commerce. They totally gutted the building, even removing the roof and slab.
