Re: Dallas Smart District
^^^^ Well, you’re entitled to your opinion but many of those building became abandoned because of the crappy urban planning of the past. This building is not abandoned and is currently being occupied. Everything doesn’t have to be bulldozed to build a new development. Dallas is a young city but it a...

Re: Dallas Smart District
Ill be honest, I could care less about the historic value of the Eagles Nest. Its never used hardly, fenced off, and provides little value. Also historic is in the eye of the beholder, it isnt that unique of a building anyway. And if it means bull dozing it down to get this game changing district b...

Y’all, I just seen a clip of an animation featuring the Dallas Smart District on Good Day. It was shown briefly and I’m trying to search for it on the internet. Did anybody see it this morning as well?

Re: Dallas Smart District
Without a major tenant, I'm still highly skeptical. Unless they nabbed Amazon and we just don't know it yet (although it seems way too soon for that). EDIT: Also, another food hall? I wonder if this is close enough to be more of an extension of the Farmer's Market Food Hall, rather than it's own se...

According to the DBJ, there is an initial phase for this project and contstruction is set to begin late next year. "The initial phase includes 600,000 square feet to 1 million square feet of office space, a major grocer, a food hall, boutique hotel with residences and green space." "...

Re: Arts District: 1900 Pearl (362 FT | 25 ST)
Y'all to me...the building isn't that bad. Yes, it could have been better but it is NOT terrible. It's simply a nice infill building. Hopefully, the ground level will make up for its unspectacular design. I know how we wish every building could have a striking design but that's not reality. Like I s...

Re: Oak Cliff: Bishop Arts
Why not HEB? There's a lot of competition in the grocery market in Dallas. Dallas-Fort Worth is Walmart's #1 market with over 130 stores. In the San Antonio area, (where HEB is HQ'd and where it is #1 in their market) there's not even 40 Walmart stores. HEB just can't come in and build stores. Walm...

Re: Downtown Dallas: Hillwood Urban's ~50 storey tower on former BoA motorcourt
I don't understand everyone's fixation on in-building mixed use. What is it that you see to be so valuable with having office AND residential AND hotel all in one tower? People like mixed use because there is an opportunity to add more vibrancy to Downtown after 5 o'clock. (and on weekends). The ad...

Re: Downtown Dallas: Hillwood Urban's ~50 storey tower on former BoA motorcourt
A supertall does not need to be millions of sq ft to be over 1,000 ft. There are a number of ways to do it. -having smaller floor plates with a great number of floors -having higher height per floor -spire or crown Many of the largest commercial office buildings (by sq ft) are NOT supertall building...

Re: Downtown Dallas: Hillwood Urban's ~50 storey tower on former BoA motorcourt
Technically, the proposed building is "in the middle of things". It's close to Victory Park, across from Uptown, down the street from the Arts Distict and Klyde Warren Park. I can't think of a better location. And let's not forget the large millennial population in the surrounding area......

Re: Downtown Dallas: Hillwood Urban's ~50 storey tower on former BoA motorcourt
That would be a billion dollar bet on an area without the same perks as other supertalls west of the Mississippi. SF's new one is at a new $4.5 billion commuter hub, for instance. LA's is on their convention center corridor street, one block away from their three-level underground transit hub. The ...

Re: Downtown Dallas: Hillwood Urban's ~50 storey tower on former BoA motorcourt
I think some people are skeptical that a million sq ft office building can be filled, without a major corporate relocation. As of right now, I don't find anything particularly wrong with the design. Like I said previously, I will reserve my harsh criticism until more renderings are released. So, I c...
