I don't see how this activates anything. It's simply a garage. Outside of 8 am and 5pm I would expect little use of the garage / cooridor area for the remainder of the day. There's nothing that draws ppl to that area. Retail at the bottom would've help. This building will continue to be a dead zone...

I'm becoming less satisfied with Steve Brown's writing. He seems to omit at least a few important details in every article, without fail. Lately he hasn't been reporting expected completion dates for projects, and it drives me wild.

One of the articles states that AT&T is making a door to the street for the new Starbucks they put in that corner. Previously, one could only access it from the inside of the building.

Don't sleep on FP's parking garage next to the Fairmount. While FP's new lobby design doesn't include retail, the first floor of the new garage will.

My conversations with construction workers has indicated that they're working from the top and proceeding downward.
So the hotel will follow after the residences. DMN space is projected to be done by April or May. I've been told the whole project will be done by summer; restaurants and all.

Preferably, any existing structures get nothing more than cosmetic treatments while the real financial focus is put on his Field/San Jacinto parking lots. I agree the Greyhound station is a big issue... my partner works near there now and its not just that it looks unsafe the crime in the area is actually quite high. I'm not opposed to the parking garage under the park, either. But I wholeheartedly agree with muncien -- the garage needs to be discrete. The number and breadth of proposals there have been for this lot is amazing. From 100 story skyscrapers, to 1,500 car underground garages, to just a plain, simple park. Fascinating!
