Re: Trump Hotel Concept / SCION

Research Mike Sarimsakci, he is full of shit, I wouldn't believe the Trump hotel or any of the other publicity seeking announcements he has made in the past were actually happening if they were assembling the tower crane.

Re: Old McKinney Ave Contemporary: Now San Martin Cafe

I'm not, I doubt the cafe will be there 10, maybe even 5 years from now and considering that is one of the best development sites in Uptown I would be afraid right now that we would get something like M-Line tower. I mean M-Line tower is fine, I'm glad they are donating space to the MATA and it has ...

Uptown Dallas: San Martín (former The MAC location)

After what seems like an eternity after they tore the old MAC down construction has started in earnest on the new San Martin Cafe. Interestingly this will be the first location outside of Guatemala and El Salvador for the cafe and should be a great fit for the neighborhood with a Guatemalan coffee b...

Re: Uptown Dallas: Business Openings and Closings

I've eaten there exactly once in my 10 years in Uptown, one of the worst steaks from a restaurant I have ever had in my life and way overpriced for the experience as well. And when I say overpriced for the experience I mean basically my expectations were slightly above ordering a steak from Chili's ...

They are crazy if they don't put in LED lighting into the stripes, lighting shows would make it one of the most iconic buildings in Dallas.

Re: Uptown Dallas: New Hotel at Hall and Oak Grove

Walked by this the weekend, it's a different property on the other side of Noble from where the property owned by a hotel group. It's where the Italian restaurant that burned down like a decade ago was. Since one small bank if financing the construction I'm guessing it is going to be a low-rise reta...

Re: Uptown Dallas: New Hotel at Hall and Oak Grove

Not taking over the TBD bar, it's the two parcels between Noble and Oak Grove on the Hall side. It's currently an abandoned small office building and an abandoned single family residence with a detached garage with either an office or a lot of storage.

Re: McKinney/Boll Tower - 2614 McKinney Ave - (18 ST)

I smell a rat, asked Kingston about it and he said STAR (State Thomas Area Residents association) and TUNA (The Uptown Neighborhood Association) had both supported the height increase. Talked to city planning and city planning said the groups had signed off on it. I am a member of both groups and t...

Re: McKinney/Boll Tower - 2614 McKinney Ave - (18 ST)

I'm afraid I don't understand your criticism, no one is or was trying to force Idol Rich out of the neighborhood, I would not be surprised if they found a new lease. Uptown is now a thriving dense and very wealthy neighborhood, that is highly unlikely to change in the next decade and that demographi...

Re: McKinney/Boll Tower - 2614 McKinney Ave - (18 ST)

I'm pretty sure that's essentially the direction McKinney is going. We're seeing the transition now. Those bars will all eventually be replaced, though most of the new product would likely be residential and not the retail you are speaking of. That's going to continue to be further north in the Wes...

Re: McKinney/Boll Tower - 2614 McKinney Ave - (18 ST)

Trying to reach some contacts, I am incredibly suspicious, last I heard the tallest building even being entertained was 8 stories and I seriously doubt Kingston or the STHD would even consider this massive increase in density.

Re: Cityplace ACS/Xerox redevelopment

TC is appealing and I am pretty sure they will win. This is a terrible use of the property and they neighborhood was clearly tricked but I don't understand legally how it is TC's fault that absolutely no one bothered to read the actual zoning application that clearly allowed big box retail or asked ...

Re: Uptown Dallas: M Line Tower - 20 Floors

Not sure we need another Sushi place in Uptown, I would have prefered something else but oh well. I was surprised by Fall, this thing is moving so quickly that I would be surprised if they couldn't get a CO for the low-rise and the retail by late Spring, early summer. I think they are already on the...

I've always thought there should be a hotel/condos connected to Northpark, perfect for a shopping spree or a HP retired empty nester to do mall walking/shopping, every amenity that you could ever want right at your doorstep.

Re: Downtown: The Drever

I remain really ambivalent about this project, it has a fortress like quality that I don't think translates to rental, at least without a street life component that kind of justifies the compound feeling like say the Ritz. I just don't understand the market, so many units, rental only, it will have ...

Re: Uptown Dallas: Alexan Katy Trail -15 floors

This project should have waited another 2 months, it's becoming increasingly likely that the two way project is going to happen and if it does a pocket park will be created right in front of this development. If the pocket park happens there should be retail in this building.

Re: Uptown Dallas: New Alamo Manhattan Hotel Project

Right across the street from Alamo Manhattan's headquarters. The building looks to be in great condition, I haven't bothered to look through titles but it looks like it hasn't changed hands yet and it might still not but I suspect this might be a Uptown record if it goes through. The largely vacant ...
